For those few in Newcastle...Gormans chips > All other chips, chinky chips are ok with gravy on.

 

I think Gormans went downhill over the last few years. South Gosforth fisheries at West Moor thats the daddy!

There's a new Gormans at Newbiggin Hall Ind Est, honestly they are better now than they ever were.

we have a chinese chippy in Blackburn (top of my road), won best in Lancashire 2 years running, its the best fish and chips i have EVER had FACTAMUNDOwas shut for weeks and weeks

 

now re opened the queue is always out the door and it can take up to 30 mins to get served, well worth it

Chinese chips and Gravy are fucking lovely, they have a slight taste of prawn crackers about them, maybe its the sesame seed oil they cook with ?

 

Or some other shit, fuck knows, nice though

The secret to their taste is the way they 'prepare' them.

 

They par-fry them and then leave them in drawers and finish off the frying process when they're ordered.

 

That's the only decent thing I learned from delivering to them as a white van man in my student days. Oh, and they always pay cash for deliveries from their casino winnings of the previous night.
