Real Madrid hope to capitalise on the current turmoil at Arsenal by swooping for manager Arsene Wenger in the summer. (Sunday Express)

 

Wenger will make 21-year-old midfielder Cesc Fabregas his new skipper after dropping William Gallas from yesterday's 3-0 defeat at Manchester City and stripping him of the captaincy following his outburst last week. (Sunday Express)

Chelsea have not given up hope of luring City's 24-year-old Brazilian forward to Stamford Bridge, with manager Luiz Felipe Scolari quoted as saying that "the door is always open for him." (Brazilian newspaper O Globo)

It's a non-story imo anyway. If someone were to offer Owen 60k a week, for example, on a 3 year deal, that's going to more attractive 100k a week (or whatever) for the last 6 months of his contract. Especially if it's 1) From a top side looking for player who isn't cup-tied for Europe and 2) He doesn't think he'll get a better deal here in the summer.
