At the time we went for Allardyce and O'Leary i'd have been happy with either and that still stands if Fat Fred isn't going to go for europes top coaches. But ultimately i think he plans to let Souness see out this season if its not disasterous and then bring in Shearer, or if it is disasterous then probably sack him and bring in Shearer. With what he had available, he wasn't expected to achieve anything less than what he did, but that was far from being a good job.
