Former Newcastle United assistant manager Terry McDermott has been named as new boss Lee Clark's number two at Huddersfield Town.

McDermott, 57, previously worked with newly-appointed Town manager Clark during his time as assistant manager at Newcastle.

The former Liverpool striker will take charge alongside Clark for the visit of Hereford to the Galpharm Stadium on Saturday.

Clark told the club's official website: "Terry is vital to what we are trying to achieve here. He brings vast experience to the club both from his player and coaching days.

"He has worked with us all at various stages in our careers - he was assistant-manager at Newcastle when I was a player and then a coach.

"Terry is very good at building relationships with the players and getting them bubbly, which is important as there will be times when we need to lift them for one reason or another."

They won 2-0 yesterday.

Not a bad first game for Clark!

Apparently they played with pace, passed well and could have had quite a few goals.

Now joint 9th with Leeds.
