Ashley to try to halt season ticket sale decline...

Is it only NOW occuring to them that they don't have a God given right to 40 thousand peoples' money in exchange for fuck all? :):D

That is the truly frightening thing - the depth of incompetence that keeps being demonstrated by Ashley Llambias Wise, whichever of them is making decisions is astounding.

There seems to be absolutely no understanding of our position, what is needed for the future or how to get there. Leadership is completely absent, no one is responsible for anything, and the recent attempts at communication have been almost worse than the silence that preceeded it.

I genuinely am worried for the future of the club, probably more so if Ashley isnt trying to asset strip and turn a profit. If he thinks the current situation and management of it is anywhere near satisfactory he is completely deluded

Aye, they seem oblivious to the seriousness of the situation as though it's a case of everything being ok, if not ideal.

I think that they think they have plenty of time to do what they want with their 'business plan', what they don't realise is that football isn't like any other business.

For one thing - good players, managers and coaches etc. are finite and (usually) expensive resources. They can also afford to be choosy about who they work for. Which is a little bit different to how Sports Direct does things.

All joking aside, it's quite scary to comprehend that he's applied the same business model to Newcastle United.

I can't understand how the bloke is so rich tbh - rather than decent business acumen, it's surely a case of him having been in the right place at the right time?

NUSC have driven him to it apparently.

I don't think it takes a genius to make money the way he has....go into his stores and you'll see what I mean. This man could've invented the phrase "pile it high, sell it cheap"

Sadly, as mentioned above, he's running the club in the same way.....he's a born gambler, and he gambled on not doing due dilligence with a view to a bit of asset stripping (getting high earners off the wage bill) and selling on for a nice 100mill or so profit 12-18 months later....but his luck has finally run out, the fuckin useless cunt

Imo balancing the books immediately shows a continued desire to sell.

He's no need to worry. If N-O is anything to go by, the vast majority are happy with the situation at the club and Ashley's plans/dealings.

I really don't know what Ash can now do to stop the ill feelings of the fans. Maybe if he were to speak to some guy (I believe there's a lawyer?) from NUSC to attempt to put his side of the story to us fans? I say NUSC, because I just don't see anyone else reporting back from an interview with the man who the rest of us would believe, I honestly don't. If nothing changes, I dread to think how many will chuck their season tickets. And a fare few that do get rid of their ST wont bother going on a match-to-match basis either.

About 75% of N-O aren't locals and I'd guess most don't go to games. So they aren't applicable :D

You think he might lose a vast proportion of the match going fanbase?

I think he will, yes. More and more people will pick and choose games and I think it'll only get worse. Even assuming we stay up.

It's strange and ridiculous how out of touch they seem to be. The only moment where it looked like they understood football as a business was when they appointed Keegan and reeped the reward. Shame they did their very best to shoot themselves in the feet (nine times).

Loads won't renew. Actual matchday attendances will depend on the football, but since putting a good team out on a weekend seems quite low on Ashley's list of priorities, the numbers might well give the fuckers nightmares.

I seem to remember them making exactly the same noises last season.

That's the thing (and the same applies to the supposed meeting with people who didn't renew their executive boxes). You'll only fool most people once and then they'll never trust you again. I mean, how stupid does he think people are?

You’ve seen uglier football, stick with the team.

I'm not normally one for getting irritated by articles but fuck me, this has wound me up. :D

Fat prick. I'd rather they went back to saying nothing.

I'm stunned at how out of touch these slimeballs are and saying things like 'you've seen worse' or 'you can't expect it overnight' is fucking insulting especially as we've got worse since these nonces took over.

I think the Keegan decision was a bit of luck on their behalf, a decision made by the heart rather than by using any sort of judgement. The last time they made a decision ruled by the heart as well.

Other than mugs like me who will keep going regardless of how shite it gets, I can't see many being swayed by any more false promises or even financial incentives. It's the club moving forward we want to see not words that mean nothing coming from slimey cunts like them.

Can't read the first two pages at work as they are victim of the porn filter for some reason so apologies of already said:

I've cancelled my direct debit and the only thing that will get me back is a sale so I can't see a sales pitch from the people responsible for the reasons I'm not bothering making any difference.

As I've said if we do go down I'll go to a few more away games next season instead.

I know its different for me as the travel/expense make the decision easier to some extent than those who live locally - I have mates who are just as pissed off as me who won't cancel as going to the match is easier and more part of a normal weekend socialising.

Well it is true-we have seen worse or at least those of us 30 plus will remember seeing worse but that is hardly any kind of comfort though is it - and as for expecting it overnight - howabout 12 months because that is how long it took you to completely fuck it - the stupid fuckwits had the biggest season ticket seller this club could ever have and they fucked him off and then they cry that not enough zebras(their terminology) aren't herding into the ground - give your heads a shake man £85 to take my lads to the game on average and it shames me to say that not only do sunderland cost less but also give better value for money

The Journal has been told prices will be slashed in order to attract people back to the stadium next season.

Black Cats fans will save at least £30 on the price of a season ticket if they renew before the April 3 deadline. . . . and Newcastle are believed to be preparing a similar sort of package.

They went up by more than that last year so £30 isnt really going to convince me to renew

I'm not renewing next year. I don't enjoy going to the match any more, I'm fairly disillusioned with football in general, and thoroughly disillusioned with NUFC. It's mad cos if Shepherd was still in charge, fucking things up in his well-meaning way, I'd probably go back, but I honestly feel like this lot are taking the piss out of us. So they can fuck off if they think they're getting another £600 out of me with some bullshit letter.

You want to halt ST sale decline? Here's a clue. Sack that worthless Wise, scrap this idiotic "continental" system, get a decent manager in and give him some decent money.

We're not asking for the moon here FFS.

Exactly. Ashley can go on all he wants about breaking even and clearing up debts but that isn't going to help him get bums on seats. People don't want to watch a shit side in real danager of relegation every year, they want to feel like the club is moving in the right direction. It would be worth his while putting £20 million into the kitty, buying some decent players and moving on while clearing the debts. These "you've had it worse" comments just reaffirm to me that we're going to do sweet FA in the summer and probably be in the exact same position next year if not worse.

Shepherd was a mammoth cunt and I wouldn't have him back before anyone asks but at least he had ambition. This lot couldn't care what level we're playing at as long as we're making money :D

The current lot are just utterly clueless. Match that with the cynical attempts to run the club as a profit-making concern and you've got a recipe for disaster. Honestly think I'd be the same as Gemmill but I've signed up for 3 years. Only did that because of the price hike. It looks anything but a bargain now like. I actually enjoy a match day still but the match itself is shite.
