Fat waste of space, tactically inept cabbage head Steve Bruce sacked by Newcastle United

Listening to Chris Waugh on the Athletic podcast talking about why Bruce hasn't been given the sack and it makes a lot of sense tbh.

They reckon all of the coaching staff he brought in (considering all of Rafas were dumped when he left) would be leaving too, meaning when Bruce went we'd literally only have Graeme Jones as a coach and no one else. Which is why Jones as caretaker isn't really seen as a viable option.

If it then took a couple more weeks or however long to get a manager you're looking at trying to get a club to survive in the PL with one coach, maybe bringing harper back from the academy to help out. Which is considered too great a risk.

Paying out 8 million for Bruce and more for his coaching staff and not having an actual successor manager and coaches in line is likely seen by PIF as too risky, so Bruce will be here until we have his replacement signed.

That makes a lot of sense. Although, it might leave us a bit short on Steves.

Suppose, if his whole team of useless coaching bastards leaves with him, you need new super duper guy to come in along with his new bunch of absolutely tremendous coaching chaps, more than one guy to line up.

I watched a clip of his Roma team passing it out from the back patiently for ages.

That would be an absolute disaster with our lot. Half of them can’t pass 12 yards or control a ball.

Something like that takes a bit of time and the right players. When Stephen Kenny took over Ireland he tried that at the beginning and it was a disaster. The players were trying to play like world beaters but didn't have the skill levels to match. After a while we reduced the amount of playing around with the ball and the players got a bit more used to it and we actually look half decent knocking the ball around. Given we're in a relegation battle I don't think we'll have the time to introduce such a system. Getting points on the board is the immediate concern and style of football can come later. Hopefully he's a manager flexible enough to realise that if he is the next man in charge.

Schar will be back in the side if Fonseca signs, and maybe Fernandez as well given he's a lot more comfortable on the ball than Clark. I honestly don't see how Clark is starting over Fernandez anyway, given that Fernandez has always been one of our better centre halfs. Lets hope that inevitable chorus's of the Happy Days theme will be justified for Fonseca.
