NUSC update from Supporters meeting

'Change' is the current mantra of NUSC and I can't see how any NUFC fan can disagree with that. Ashley seems totally intransigent though. Keep Wise, Llambias and the structure (the structure could work potentially with different personnel) stick with Kinnear if/when he recovers properly, stick with Hughton until then. Suicidal incompetence on the part of those in charge imo.

If the current situation is not alarming Ashley enough into to try to change something then he is either man of steel or complete madman. His club is sliding toward the edge of the cliff. When he sacked Allardyce, Ashley claimed he was a man who acted on his instincts. Well if his instincts aren't screaming at him now to change something, I would be astounded.

Indeed. The trouble is, the only meaningful thing he could do (now the window's closed) to change things this season is to bring in a temporary manager. No guarantee it would work either.

With eleven games left, the best way to inject a bit of impetus would be to bring in a motivator, a player's man who could galvanize what we've got into playing above themselves. Can't think of anyone who fits the bill myself... :icon_lol:

The more I think about HF's point yesterday about the fact that the £100m loan from Ashley will hold its value, the more I think he's right and that's why Ashley is holding firm.

He's the majority creditor of NUFC - even if the club went to the wall he'd be at the front of the queue to get his money back.

As long as NUSC is around, and I hope it's for a very long time, it will always be a case of "you're damned if you do, and you're damned if you don't", sadly.

Hopefully they'll realise this and not let it prevent them acheiving what they feel is best for the club.

Not everyone is going to agree with when / how / why / what they do, but I still think things would a lot worse without their presence.

Not much money to be made in pubs these days like, Pud can you get the lazy cunts to build a casino?

i'll happily flog coke round the back as long as we are taking the NUSC in the right direction.

So hold on Im lost?

On one hand you're saying that we have a membership thats not worth a light (ie 1000+ in 6 months) yet at the same time you advocate that we buy or at best rent a pub so we can all get together for a beer? :icon_lol:

We have that now in the fact we can use the Irish Club whenever we want, at the same time maybe in a couple of years time we may adopt a bigger or what some could class more mainstream bar, the likes of the Strawberry are supporters of the club and have offered their services etc.

Back in the old old days there was a social club I believe that was part of the supporters club, no doubt LM or Rob :icon_lol: can inform on that one, Id be willing to bet though that it wasnt owned by them but merely used.

At the moment the SC is barely past the crawling stage, we've still got the walking before we get to even a light jog.

We do however do the things that a proper supporters club should do but frankly the main thing that any supporter club should be responsible for is ensuring those running the football club do so with the best interests at heart. Man U, Liverpool they are all doing the same as us, highlighting issues and trying to force change. Yet look at where their respective teams are, how I would love to be in their shoes yet they are still protesting and more than us frankly.

Buy a pub? Fucking hell :icon_lol:

Threads were started both on here and N-O when NUSC was first set up to gauge what opinion was amongst fans IIRC. Unsurprisingly at the time a lot of sentiment was anti-Ashley and that's the banner issue. In my opinion it should remain so until things at the club start to change.

What gets me is the amount of people who bitch that the NUSC doesn't represent their views but are unwilling to sign up and put in the effort to try and get their voice heard. It's not as if NUSC is this impenetrable organisation that's closed at the very top - it's got a very small number of members currently and at the last meeting at the Irish Centre they were practically begging people to join the committee. What more do people want?

As far as i'm concerned you've got no right what so ever to moan about NUSC if you're not going to put in the leg work. They're doing a bloody admirable job at quizzing those people who take our money and flog us a substandard product week in, week out. If you don't like it fine but don't bitch about them not representing your views if you're unwilling to do anything about it.

Have you had a good read through the Arsenal one?

What about the idea of a thread for suggestions for developing the sc? (Maybe even having a members area on the website for a forum to discuss this type of discussion)

Apart from the matter of stewarding, i dont know what "We do however do the things that a proper supporters club should do" means.

Whens the next meeting anyway.

I have to admit I havent, Ive literally not had a minute so will probably do so on the train tomorrow but I will have a neb at them.

There will be a members area on the site, again its just down to time constraints and the fact that I think the current site is shit, it looks ok but frankly its unworkable and wastes a lot of space so that is being redesigned first, the members bits will slot into that. There is however a number of email addresses for members (and for that matter non members) to raise concerns, issues and ideas. They should always be the first port of call for now.

There is going to be a meeting to discuss the Supporters Trust stuff in the next couple of weeks which I think we will probably announce following tonights committee meeting, I'll know more when I get back from there.

As for the other things, we are organising social nights, we represent the fans when ex players die ie we send flowers, condolences etc on behalf of NUFC fans, we take up matters with the club, stewarding being one, the VAT decrease being another, selling off of the ticket office and additional costs of calling to purchase tickets. All of these things are taken up but I would argue that it does need a group to push the football club (no matter which club you are) when things arent going well.

The NUSC cannot take credit for everything positive that happens at the club thats for sure but the recent turn in events has got a hell of a lot to do with the role of the SC and the pushing on issues. You have to ask where we would be if there hadnt been someone questioning them and pushing for answers. The fact that even after last weeks meeting they asked us to be involved in future communications means that they themselves see some value in it.
