would give the club a lift and get some fans back onside by showing were heading in the right direction , played but not managed in the prem so has a fair idea of its standards , and has done a top job so far in his managerial career , Ketsbia for the toon !

Ketsbaia resigns from Cypriot job

The Cypriot club begged former Newcastle star Temuri Ketsbaia to stay

Former Newcastle midfielder Temuri Ketsbaia has resigned as coach of Cypriot side Anorthosis Famagusta.

This season, Ketsbaia, 41, became the first man to lead a Cypriot team into the Champions League group stages.

The team are out of the title race in Cyprus this year and a club statement read: "He said the decision was taken in the best interests of the club.

"We asked him to reconsider as he was the main factor in our success - but he said it was final."

BBC Sport interviewed Ketsbaia in October during the Champions League group stages, when the Georgian talked openly about a return to Tyneside one day and manage a club he cares deeply for.

"As a player I had a dream to move to big clubs and I did that - as a manager that dream is no different," he commented.

"If I get the chance to move to a bigger club in a bigger country then of course I would take it.

"It was a great opportunity for me to play for Newcastle and if the chance came up to manage them then I wouldn't say no."

If Shearer decides to go back to MOTD (or, you know, turns out to be crap, although I don't think that's going to be the case)... :D

NUFC approached him to find out how interested he was in returning to Newcastle before we got Kinnear, but never went back to him. Apparently he wants to come here as manager but also has had an offer from Olympiakos.

More as I get it :D

That is the best piece of ITK I've ever seen good lad  That greek cunt I know said there's been nothing about it in the greek press at all. Then out of the blue, he's there. Shame you couldnt bet on that, Mrs Ketsbaia could be a useful tool in the future though.

Greek fans on Jorman forums were talking about it for some time tbh.

Beat me to it. I always liked Temuri, he had quite a bit of flair and was completely mental. And bald. He was in at the same time as Asprilla wasn't he? I bet Saturday nights in Newcastle were fun in those days.

Probably not, I didn't pay that much attention. He was fun to watch as he kicks advertising hoardings and shouts like a madman. Imagine if you signed Di Canio and Edmundo during that period.........

There would probably be photos of Edmundo feeding Di Canio drink as Di Canio in his receeding days did resemble a chimp.

I remember when we signed him and apparently people said out of the Georgian midfielders/attackers at the time he was the best they had and better than Kinkladze. Although tbf Kinkladze did just turn shite overnight.

He was a good player like - could pass and shoot - puts our current lot to shame with just those attributes
