I've just watched the NUFC TV video too and when it zoomed in I got a glimpse of the very slight houndstooth between the stripes, I'm glad that's back properly as it almost guarantees a decent material feel. We did for European games, not sure if they brought anything like that in for the PL / Championship though. I think it was brought in for the last couple of seasons that all teams with striped jerseys had to have the patch. There was a Southampton fan on here with a petition to try and save them. No obligation, this is just stylistic choice. However, all teams I see in lower league that have stripes also appear to have panels on the back.
