FWIW I think Harper is a fairly good keeper and I'd buy midfielders and another striker before thinking about a new keeper.

Plus we're still likely to lose a fair few in the summer, even if we stay up.

I cant put into words how ecstatic i was being at the game last night, especially after that first goal for boro no-one knew what to do with themselves and i thought we were in for a torrid time.

then Taylor scored + celebrated right next to where i was sitting and it always seemed like we could go on a win with a little more effort and we did :yahoo:

Kudos to Shearer for the selection and substitutions aswell, i thought he got both spot on for the occasion.

The atmosphere at the start of the game and towards the end were fantastic but there was massive chunks of the game where we were outsung by the Boro fans, that made me feel quite sick. It was still fun to wave them goodbye when we got our third though

I think if we can grab three point against Fulham we will be safe.

Also i thought Viduka and Guthrie imparticular were fantastic last night.

Tell you what, look how much it means to Dowie to escape the drop

This is a man who a little over a month ago had absolutely no connection with the club yet he's going as mental as any lifelong Newcastle fan would.

Refreshing to see - Shearer and Dowie remind me very much of Keegan and Terry Mac (1st time round).

God, we've got to do it now... can't let all that awesomeness last night have been for nothing!!

It's been up 17 or 18 hours and Dowie still hasn't been photoshopped into a degrading 1970s porn image.

For shame toontastic....for! Shame!

I started a training course today (in London) and the lad next to me is a Boro fan - the trainer even commiserated with him (Stoke fan) when he introduced himself - this was before the poor twat found out I was a toon fan.

We later agreed it would be best for the universe if the Mackems go down.

Can't for life of me have ever expected that reaction out of the likes of Dean Saunders, Alan Murray, Kevin Bond or Nigel Pearson. The only no.2s in my memory who would have reacted like that would have been Terry Mac and John Carver - both of whom had links with the club.

Great escape ftw.

And this was just too good an opportunity to pass up...

Another big shout for Steven Taylor. Watched his header a few times this morning and it just gets better and more powerful each time you see it.

Krul would definately get my nod for next year, but no point whatsoever in tinkering with two games to go.

Its ironic how the shit thats gone on this season has given us one of our best nights at SJP for a long time. Can we not battle relegation every year?

You've inadvertently tapped into the Ashley masterplan there, Chrismas Tree.

Fucking mental night, picked a good one to come back for. Atmosphere had that rare blend of desperation and relief, like you'd not been able to have had a wank for a month.

I've never hugged that many strangers since 1992 either.

Odd mix of imagery, i admit.

I think the crushing sense of impending doom when the ball bobbled beyond Beye's foot into the net made the rest of the game better. Now I'm not suggesting that we concede every game, just to make it interesting, but I fondly remember the games under Bobby, where we'd invariably concede early thanks to Titus, then because of the confidence at the club, we'd still go onto win regardless.

Taylor's goal was the right kind of equaliser too, if that makes any sense. A powerful header gets the heart racing that little harder than a unfortunate own goal in our favour would have. More so than a penalty too imo. That Oba's was more rushed and bumblesome added to the frenetic feeling, then to seal it with a decent flowing goal was great.

I know I'm gushing a bit, but I've not felt this giddy after a game all season, except maybe the draw at Man U, but even that was tempered with thoughts of ill for the rest of the season (although not as dark as the season came to be).

Still stupidly happy. :o
