After a number of people telling me how good it is, I finally gave in and started watching ‘Stranger Things’.

I’m two episodes in and it’s a bit dull so far. It also seems to be aimed at teenagers or adults who still like watching ‘The Goonies’.

Before I persevere, can anyone tell me a) does it get better, and b) is its target audience adults or children?

My sister watches it so that's a good enough recommendation to knock it on the head. I reckon it would be right up @Kid Dynamites strasse but could be wrong?

I like Stranger things - one of those things that could have been wrapped up nicely in one season but they've built on it since - last season was excellent and I'll watch the new one when it's all released.

I watch it because I'm somewhat obsessed by Winona, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone else

Just watched S4E1. Was actually pretty good. More Horror than its been previously, works better now the kids are older I think. Think the main characters are exactly the age I was then.

I gave up after the first season and have no desire to pick it up again. It’s not terrible but didn’t get me hooked.

Started on series 2 but didn't get into it at all.

That's how I felt when I started series 2. Perhaps I should give it another go.

Captures the nostalgia of my childhood well, albeit some of those memories were through the medium of TV rather than being reflective of what life was actually like in Chester le Street in the 80s

Arcades, Nintendo, Ghostbusters, A Team, Knight Rider, Goonies, Monster Squad, playing out on your bike, climbing trees, swimming in rivers, watching horror films on VHS when your parents weren't home etc.

Definitely shades of Hellraiser and Nightmare on Elm Street in Series 4

Yeah. It's Half highly derivative, but that's a good thing. Half life being an inspiration for some of the previous series oddly enough.

Got to be honest, a middle aged Winona does nothing for me except make me feel old, but then Porno Bridget does that to me, so y'know.

Surely KD’s not old enough to be nostalgic for the 80s. Although 90s Chester-Le-Street was arguably indistinguishable from the 80s ;)

Did you go down the pit when you were ten or were you a chimney sweep?

I always quite liked winona too, however I'm somewhat alarmed that she's slowly morphing in to a dark haired version of liz macdonald from coronation stteet.

anyway, watched the first 2 episodes of stranger things last night and really enjoyed them, the roller skate incident being a highlight.  :)

binge watched the second series ot stephen merchant's the outlaws.and thoroughly enjoyed that, but I reckon christopher walken is ace and anything he's involved in is unlikely to disappoint. oh and rani's a little minx!
