“We know who this Profitable group are because we had some dealings with them last summer regarding some business in the Far East,” he said.

“But we have had absolutely no contact with them since then.

“There hasn't been a bid and there hasn't been an enquiry. They have claimed they have met Mike and myself to discuss things and they haven't. It's total rubbish.

“There are three or four interested parties who we are talking to but these aren't one of them.”

Quotes from Llambias apparently (from N-O). I struggle to believe anything that comes out of that slimebag's gob but I suppose the talk of interested parties direct from the MD is slightly encouraging.

Aye the phrases 'three or four' along with 'serious interest' were Harris's constant refrain last time round.

I still think the club will be sold though. As I've said before I can't believe there won't be interest if it's £100mil all in. But Ashley's made himself look so desperate that buyers must be fancying their chances of getting the price down further. The trouble is if the haggling process takes six weeks or so we're knackered as far as preparation goes for next season.

the Chronicle report that although the current SJP regime have not met with Shearer since his return to Tyneside this week, Al has held face to face talks with former NUFC Chairman Freddy Shepherd - who has failed to confirm or deny so far whether he has any involvement in a possible bid to purchase the club.

So the current regime have not spoken with Shearer and are denying they have engaged with the 'leading' potential buyers in the press, BUT the want-to-be(?) Manager is in talks with the ex-chairman, neither of which currently have anything to do with the club.

:aye:

John Gaunt, CEO, Profitable Group

Wahey!

Gaunty.

I love Gaunty.

He was raped as a child you know....by an older girl.

I hate John Gaunt :aye:

Download the Collings and Herrin podcast back catalogue then. They rip the shite out of him in the early ones.

They critique the aforementioned rape scene from his autobiography with hilarious consequences.

Read about Steve McMahon being linked and thought 'what the fuck?' My only guess is that being from Singapore, they have a right boner for ex-Liverpool players as every bar you go has a picture of a Liverpool player. Odd but they love the bin dippers in that place, but then it is probably down to the humidity and the fact its dull as hell there.

Steve's pretty good in thre lower divisions, but I think you'd end up there with him proving me right.

in what role? I've heard it would be a behind the scenes sort of thing, not as manager

"Their concept for the club involves hugely increasing supporter involvement through a trust system on the lines of that in place at Barcelona."

This intrigues me. Would be a good way to raise revenue I guess, but what would it entitle those chipping their wedge to? A stake in the club, just the chance to be heard or get a season ticket? Do we have enough fans to make this viable in the Barcelona sense? If this is such a great idea why has noone else done it in the PL? Etcetera.

Seeing the story on the BBC is a good sign, they don't usually run with a story unless they are 100% sure.

Just read the gossip round up on BBC, and it seemed to say that he'd be the manager, and not Alan! He might be destined for a 'Director of Football' type of post though, which should be fun after that short cockney chap whose name escapes me.

As for the Barcelona set-up, it might be an intruiging one for a club like Newcastle, as the club is key to the identity to the town a bit like Barca are to Catalonia, and there are no real rivals in the city. It probably wouldn't work for Man Utd (Manchester has 2 famous teams vying for attention), Arsenal (a big team in a city with loads of teams big and small) or Blackburn (nowhere near enough fans, and the town itself is too small). The potential problem is that then the deluded tools you have who protest outside St. James' Park over anything and everything will have a voice in how the place is run. Keegan may literally have a job for life if they took over.

"The Group consider the leaking of The Group's interest in this matter unfortunate, and as supporters of Newcastle United seek only to serve in the best interests of the cluib"

They trying to ingratiate themselves by having a crack at the accent there?
