Priorities revealed

Further to the earlier reports that United had made all of their players available for transfer, The Times has now added the following:

Newcastle officials have distributed a definitive list of individuals they would prefer to move on at the earliest opportunity, in the hope that a core of the club’s best players can be retained for the Coca-Cola Championship campaign.

Managers at home and abroad have been told that a number of Newcastle players with considerable first-team experience are available for transfer with immediate effect.

The sale of Kevin Nolan, Joey Barton, Jonás Gutiérrez, Gérémi, José Enrique, Fabricio Coloccini, Obafemi Martins, Shola Ameobi and Xisco is seen as a priority.

We'd like to pass on our best wishes to whoever has the task of trying to get money in for that lot - let's hope that they succeed....and if you want to make it a full ten with Alan Smith, then you have our blessing.

Values instantly halved (low as they were already).

A spokesperson for ATP has distributed a definitive list of individuals he would prefer to move on at the earliest opportunity, in the hope that Newcastle United can continue to exist as we know it.

The fucking off of Michael Ashley and Derek Llambias is seen as a priority.

But seriously, we just bought Nolan in January, Enrique is one of our "core of the club's best players", Geremi won't even raise fifty cent, Coloccini was our 'wow' signing, and Ameobi just got a new 99-year contract. Brilliant stuff Mike. It'd be comedy, if it weren't tragedy.

Enrique is one of our best players and one who I can see doing very well in the future. But the rest of them is to be expected and in most cases hoped tbf.

Still hardly the way to go about things if we want to have any hope of doing well next season or getting decent money in for them.

At least ameobi is on the list.

Things are looking up.

That was the first thing I thought when I saw that list. Can't say I'd be bothered if we sold any of that lot. I expect Enrique wants away tbh.

Exactly, good riddance to that woeful lot, chuck Duff in there too

Not sure why we are so desperate to get rid of Enrique? Or so desperate to hold onto Duff and Butt for that matter?

Still no idea why we bought Nolan, a giant traffic cone would have been cheaper and nearly as effective.

Don't we have very few players between 25 and 30 (ie, in their prime)? Virtually the whole squad is wet behind the ears or over the hill.

The ones we do have are generally crocks and criminals too.

Statistics can mislead. Smith, Nolan and Ameobi had their prime years ago. In fact Ameobi may have had a prime bypass as a youngster.

At least ameobi is on the list.

Things are looking up.

He wouldn't have needed to be if we hadn't chucked a new contract at him in January. That's where money has been pissed down the drain tbh.

Ashley appointed him tbh (and surely must have sanctioned Stroller's new deal?)

Of course but anyone involved in that contract decision should be sanctioned for termination - and I don't mean a P45.

Why on earth is Smith not on that list?

Wild guess but maybe they've been sounded out about their level of committment to playing in the league and Smith was up for it - that would explain Butt/Duff as well.

Or they just forgot him.

They couldn't bear to see an 'asset' walk away on a free.

Or in Shola's case stand around for a while, walk, trip over, stand around a bit longer, foul the receptionist, walk a bit, shout at the security guard, and get escorted from the building for causing an obstruction.

Not happy to see Enrique or Martins on the list but they probably want out (despite what may have been said about Martins recently wanting to stay), but it does boil my blood to see no Smith on the list. Has done precisely fuck all since joining and is on 40k plus, what reason could we possibly have for keeping him?

It might be more a case of nobody wanting him
