NEWCASTLE United Football Club confirms that it has extended its deadline to Barry Moat to table an offer for the Club.

The extension has been granted in order to allow Barry Moat and his advisors to conclude funding arrangements with Barclays, current bankers, for the continuation of last season's £39m facility.

This would allow a formal offer to be tabled.

Does this mean no offert has been tabled so far? Is all pie in the sky to me, I just cant believe the Halls sold to this fucking tit in the first place!

I don't agree with the line that having new ownership without money doesn't take us forward.

It hopefully gives us an owner who isn't a total imbecile. An owner who makes correct decisions, who doesn't employ a casino manager to run a football club, who doesn't allow Dennis Wise to sign players over the head of the manager, who won't employ foul-mouthed nonentities to run a multi-million pound football club, who doesn't think that it's acceptible to make the MD do naked lengths of SJP.

Farcical...

No money Moat, no money Ashley. Can someone tell me the difference?

It's not just about money. It seems to me everyone is obsessed by being taken over by multi-billionaires who'll throw ridiculous amounts of money at the club making us the next Chelsea / Man City or whatever. Obviously we'd need some investment but someone running the club properly would be miles better than Ashley even if funds were limited. We don't know if Moat would run it properly but at least he actually has an attachment to the club beyond just wanting to make money.

Exactly the kind of "just a heads-up, this is where we are" statement they've not issued for 3 months because of the supposed non-disclosure agreement.

Difference being, releasing it now, when they should be drawing a line in the sand, excuses lack of first team investment.

Scum.

Exactly. A decent owner with brains wouldn't have got us relegated, we'd still have had KK (or a decent boss of their choice) there, instead of being in complete turmoil and would be looking good, not saying we'd be world beaters, but they wouldn't have to have spent more money than ashley, just not been a complete fuckwitt.

I've no idea what Moat's plans and finaces are if he should takeover, but you have to believe he will be better than ashley and as Matt said if you get the fans back, you get more money in, not the billions we'd all love, but it still helps.

Not sure Moat has the funds to buy the club outright (unless he borrows it). I have a feeling he will be a major investor, taking a share in the club. The way things are going with a little intelligence and tinkering we can get out of this league first time. Looking forward to a bit of solidarity.

Looks like if he has any intelligence, it's a little.

I don't think anyone's surprised... it's like checking the lottery, you know there's no fucking chance, but you still have that tiny spark of hope.

One is an unknownwith the potential to run the club correctly and sensibly. One is a nailed on cunt running the club into oblivion.

I know which I'd take a punt on.

One of the lads at work is a Barnet fan and he's reminded me of when they had Stan Flashman in charge - anyone remember him? Guy used to sack and then re-instate Barry Fry as manager, regular as clockwork - also insisted on his son playing in goal despite being total gash.

Anyway this lad tells me that the fans turned on Flashman to the point where he agreed that he'd sell the club. A prospective buyer turned up, made a presentation to the fans and was warmly received. Turns out that he was being paid by Flashman to make the presentation and, had he taken over, would have simply been a puppet for the guy already running the show.

It's possible I guess

Seems very possible to me sadly

I think Moat's genuine fwiw. Doesn't mean he's got the money to takeover the club or that Ashley will sell to him in any case though.

Moats a true fan though isn't he? Can't imagine him fucking the club he supports up (further) for Ashley & take all the blame.

He might think that he'll be able affect things more than he actually can

Anyway, this is pointless, there wont be a sale, it'll be too late to sign anyone (but not too late to sell people) and Hughton will be made Boss until end of the season, whereupon we'll miss out on the playoffs and Ashley will presume this means with a bit of luck we'll make it next season, so will drag out another ridiculous summer pretending to sell... and so on
