But if somehow its true, its very worrying as he has been a key man.

It says:

"And some good news and bad news after the game on potential loans to and from the Newcastle club.

According to this evening’s BBC Sport Commentary, they are reporting Newcastle are close to a loan deal for Spurs’ Gareth Bale.

But also news that Gary Megson wants Kevin Nolan back at Bolton Wanderers, for a season long loan deal, and Ashley is said favor the deal, to reduce the wage bill.

Nolan is just coming into his own at the Tyneside club, and is the epitome of fight and spirit in the Newcastle side this season.

Kevin got his second goal in as many games tonight, and it would be a very bad move for Newcastle.

But hey, Mike Ashley has made enough of those kinds of decisions in the last 12 months, and unfortunately, it seems he is not yet finished.

Newcastle fans are praying Ashley will leave Tyneside soon – to end his horrendous and failed stewardship of the now Championship club."

Why get rid of a player who is doing well for us. He is obviously happy playing for us and playing at this level. He looks like he is really enjoying his time with Newcastle even with all the shit going on behind closed doors. Another decision disaster.

Let's see if it's true. If he does go it'll be a decision motivated by money, or the lack of it at the club.

Absolutely no truth in the Nolan link to Bolton at all.

Like the Carroll rumours, they have probably been spread by people within SJP to try to whip up interest and necessary cash for Mr Ashley.

Besides, if you were Megson, exactly what about Nolan's recent form would make you want to buy him?

Erm two goals in two games?

MOM performance against Reading?

He was shite for us in the prem last season though I suppose, but the fact that Bolton have had a shaky start might have caused him to think he needs someone with a bit of passion in the team...enter Nolan.

I agree to an extent though, most likely tosh.

I don't think we can aford to get rid of anyone with the squad the way it is but Nolans been anything but impressive to me this season or last. Admittedly I haven't seen the last two games but I thought he was annonymous against WBA, Reading and Sheff Wed. I'd have him behind Smith, Barton, Guthrie and probably Butt for a midfield spot myself.

Megson has just been on SSN saying that he wants to bring him back on loan.

Isn't that technically 'tapping up' a player? Hope Nolan tells him to go fuck himself tbh - was happy to sell him in January.

Decent in this league, but we've sufficient in his position and he's hardly the best we've got.

Smith, Barton, Guthrie, Butt, Geremi.... I'd put him ahead of the two old codgers, but he's less effective than the other three imo, regardless of his recent form I'd sell him if I could.

regardless of whether you think he's shit or not, we don't have a big enough squad to get rid of anyone.....especially if the Fat Bastard is just going to the casino with the profits.

I wouldn't argue, but he hasn't changed my view of him so far this season. I didn't see the game last night like.

more of a comment for those who are still talking about getting rid of players, when we all know FMA isn't bringiing more players.............i don't beleive anything I read unless its a confirmation notice from the club

He's been pretty ineffective for the most part this season, often going through games without being notcied. If we got any sort of fee over 2 million I'd take it. The trouble is, Bolton only want him on load, and even if we did get a proper bid from them and sell we wouldn't replace him, therefor he needs to stay, unfortunately.

In the past I would have been packing his bags and putting a note out for the milkman but now no way, yes we have cover in his position but we are now woefully short of actual bodies and IF Shearer was to walk into this club next week then Barton wouldnt be counted as a player so we'd then be two down.

I think its important that we keep hold of him tbh, Barton and Guthrie are fairly injury prone which leaves us with Butt, Smith & Geremi, who are all defensive minded players, Nolan rarely gets injured and is more attacking than defensive.

I can imagine a central pairing of Butt & Smith catastrophic no matter what league we're in.

I have to see Nolan has impressed me so far this season, he was shite in the prem last season though, I agree.
