Coming up to Newcastle for stag weekend

Hi guys - great site

Sorry to intrude - I'm not a Newcastle fan (other end of the country - Saints, so you're doing better than us!). My question is on nights out - we're up on a stag do mid November, looking for a couple of clubs to get into when the time comes. Best site I've found so far is newcastlestagparty.com but I've no idea how up-to-date (or accurate) this is. Basically bunch of 20 lads all around 30, no dodgy characters looking for a good night out. Think the music consensus is predominantly cheese, mainstream at least (no dance, house etc). A few of us are single (and the rest enjoy a good look!) so girls would be preferrable as well!

Is there anywhere that springs to mind? I've read some places don't allow stags or hens at all which isn't ideal. Just want to avoid trawling the streets some 11pm! I've been up there before so I know what to expect, really just want to get onto some guest lists where the clubs are aware we are a stag so can relax and enjoy the weekend.

Even if you could point me to another site that would be great.

Thanks a lot, and hope the rest of the season goes as well as the start!

Start off in the Stack, in Walker, go up to The Birds Nest and keep going along Walker Road till you hit the town, it's not that far of a walk and will start your night off nicely.

Have a good night.

Guest Stevie

Jump in a taxi(s) from the Central Station, and get him to take you to a wonderful venue called the Chieftain. It caters for all tastes, and basically is a mecca encapsulating Newcastle life, the owners are Sunderland fans so indulge in a bit of Sunderland chanting if you like, from there a short walk to the Gold Cup where it caters for your more sporting day tripper, followed off by a trip further along to the Villa Victoria, where it's always heaving with lovely ladies of some description, you'll have a great time.

Power house seems to be where it's all at currently, I would think you could make a night of it there.

Good luck

+1 for Powerhouse. You wont be disappointed.

+2

if your after some hot dames!!!

Hilarious. No, really you've done yourself proud.

Thanks to those of you who gave sensible suggestions, nice to know at least some people are helpful.

Nick, its a tradition to take the piss out of people coming on here asking about stag weekends.

Read the burglar's dog for spot on advice and an insight into how some of the locals will look at you. Have a great time, enjoy the city and as your a southern poof, wrap up warm :D

Possibly is "tradition" but is the kind of thing my 16 year old brother would come out with. Hey-ho.

Anyway, did a little looking around and the concensus seems to be:

- Clubs are chavvy and worth avoiding

- Some bars are great if you know where to look

- Quayside marginally classier than the Bigg Market

Also read a comment from someone saying that burglersdog site basically says all pubs are crap, which is spot on so not sure that's going to be very helpful (although it is fairly amusing!)

Out of interest, did you ever give Sunderland any consideration?

They've got some great lights on at Seaburn seaside and a smashing national glass centre if you're up for the weekend and got a bit of time on your hands.

Are all 20 of you this cheerful?

"Which idiot hand-cuffed the groom to a lamp post? That's really immature!"

Quayside is considerably better than the Bigg market, as is the Central station area. Other places to consider are the Gate and maybe Jesmond.

Trouble is, if you're in a group of 20 or so lads then the nicer places aren't going to cater for you. The only time I have ever been to the Bigg market was for a Stag night because they cater for that type of thing. You're not going to be wearing matching T-shirts or fancy dress I take it? See that all the time nowadays, will limit where you can go.

What you looking for? If it's your typical stag do then the Bigg Market and Quayside are exactly what you want. They're much the same and within staggering distance of each other anyway.

Did stag in Vegas last year, and this stag is getting married in New Zealand next year, hence we're staying in blighty for a change. Think you're right though, very tough to get the balance of quality places and massive group of blokes. Like I said, chief concern is getting pre-arranged entry to somewhere each night, we can probably muddle our way round the pubs before that (also doing Casino for Poker tourney).

Strip club discussion next!

I've been up to Newcastle on 3 stag weekends, including my own. Obviously being half a geordie I'm biased but I've always had a great time as have all my friends from london. Last time there were 28 of us!

I think you can't go wrong with doing a bar crawl from the quayside up to the main part of the city. We normally spend a couple of hours in For Your Eyes Only, or head down to Whitley Bay for the cheaper ladies. Basically as long as you are all easy going then you won't have any trouble and there is always plenty of totty about.

Don't over organise it, once you get into the city just go where the drink takes you. I know someone mentioned it earlier and I sensed it was in jest, but when we come up on the train we go straight into the gotham town, get out the 2 pint funnel and make a shit load of mess. The custodians never seem to mind - normally because we spend a fortune and are gone in about 45 minutes.

If I could figure out how to add a photo to this then I'd show you.

Hope you enjoy your visit, I always do.

I totally refute that statement. That's my home town you're talking about, and I'll have you know we have a more up-market type of slag frequenting Whitley hostelries of a night.

Well there's the problem then, I've only been in the afternoon. You can't beat that street with all the strip bars at 1.30 on a saturday afternoon. I think it was The Hairy Lemon we were this year. Quality.

EDIT: And I've got some lovely photos of the lasses from there aswell. Add image wants a URL, what can I do if they are just located on my hard drive?
