Sold the SG Special for £600....so that's a nice £300ish profit. Grabbed this G&L Fallout for £180...and I must say it's absolutely fucking fantastic.

It plays like a dream and the pickups sound glorious in pretty much all configurations. So there's a P90 and a coil split humbucker. It came up on Facebook marketplace yesterday for 180

and I snapped the guys hands off....

Made an easy £120 on this...I got bored of it and realised the only thing I'd picked up for months was the Charvel. (Some guitars are perma excluded from sale but not new ones)

Also first time I had the Waza's in for ages tonight...and fuck me they're still 10/10, I've just been lazy. I'm gonna design or rather ask someone to design a stand for them that charges the headphones and receiver.

Just so that they're stored, always charged & I have no excuse.

I thought for a second there that firing "docking waza" into Google might be a bit risky, but I can tell you and the results were unfortunately completely boring. Nothing pornographic at all.

Always thought Jared James Nichols was gonna be some kind of blues prodigy but he sounds just like Black Label Society

We’ve enough Dust Bowl bands that sound like that.

I think….I’m about to embark on a Gig with just an amp and no pedals

(practicing in an art studio last night haha)

Used just the LP and Marshall at practice last night and it sounded class, the other guitarist was playing an old Vox with an attenuator cooking the valves so the two mixed brilliantly.

Although I’m tempted to break out the range master @Blastronautsent me for a boost

Pretty solid plan! Is that a wee class 5?  If you ask me, what you really want to be doing is getting a shot of the RM into that old Vox!

The original Rangemasters were designed before pedalboards were really a thing and were basically meant to be "always on". About the size of a lunchbox and would sit above or out of sight of amp head, rather than something that would be toggled on or off for a bit extra during certain passages.

Gallagher and May were both single coil>Rangemaster> AC30 for their core sound most of their careers from what I gather. It's heavily speculated Rory's RM was modified over time but I'm not totally convinced and have my own hair brained theories. Iommi Blackmore almost definitely had theirs modded to be less centered on treble to my ears, but fucked if I know exactly when they used it or what amps they were running at the time.

Yeh it’s a class 5, got it louder tonight as the drummer was involved and we were in a proper rehearsal room, it sounded fucking mint and the rangemaster really helped out

It’s been through the Vox before I think & the other guitarist will probably order one after  he’s been on the holiday he’s saving for.

Once we got away from the set list we were learning we played Moby Dick by Zeppelin, both guitars at once and we laughed our heads off at how authentic it sounded.

Super fun, especially with an insane drummer. Just got to meet him tonight and he’s like….hard rock clockwork

Good drummers are hard to come by man. Keep hold of 'em. One of my closest mates is a pretty decent drummer who sadly doesn't play much these days through a combination of health issues, other responsibilities and his recent (somewhat impressive) homebrew operation that's taken over most of his free time.

Most of my favourite bands are fairly guitar centric but if I was pressed on what I love so much about them I have it's the drummer. I'd maybe even go as far as putting Paul Gilbert in there, but maybe stop short of putting Carcass and Cardiacs in.

Ha. Nice one! How do you find these deals man? Do you flip most of them for a profit or is every wall and bit of floor at your house just covered with guitars?

I've just tried to thin out my collection of gear a little. Gave the 4x12 away and sent most of my less favoured guitars off to temporarily live in my mums loft, the idea being I might find it easier to justify buying a new guitar and cab if theres not already loads cluttering up the house. After maybe 6 months and as many purchases I'll start gradually sneaking the old stuff back in when the missus is at work or something.

I flip a good few of them but I’ll keep this one as truth be told I’ve never had a good acoustic and I’ve always wanted the J200 style for whatever childish reason.

The fella selling it said he had too many guitars  but after a little while talking I quickly gathered the sale was on the wife’s orders. Whether that was spitefully reflected in the price I don’t know.

It’s absolutely beautiful mind, there’s not a mark on it. Maple neck, cap and sides. Some spruce somewhere. Rosewood board & bridge.

I gave it a quick clean up and it’s good as new.

I get most of these on gumtree or FB marketplace and I suppose it’s down to being quick and being able to say “I’ll drive over this afternoon & pay cash”.

I tend to get deals that way.

I hear you on the whole acoustic thing. I've only got two, a cheap Japanese 70's thing I got for £30 as a doer upper and 12 string my dad sort of acquired and I ended up inheriting. All I've got here in the new digs so far is the SG, and the Firebird and 12string since I thought they both were a bit neglected and both deserved more love.

Only really good deal I've got on Gumtree was that 4x12 I just gave away to my brother in law. £50. Originally saw it listed for £80 when I was looking for a single 12" speaker cab and was tempted but it seemed like overkill. Few days later guy had reduced it to £50 and immediately messaged the guy and uncharacteristically said to missus "I need the 7seater for a few hours, where will put the car seats?".

Yeah a 4x12 is a serious piece of gear.

Gig tonight went wonderfully & the Les Paul/Marshall/Rangemaster combo was absolutely class.

The Marshall was Mic’d up in the end but it was such a fun really absolutely rocking a venue with a 5w amp 😂

Aye man, original reasoning with the 4x12 was basically "where else am I going to get 4 twelve inch speakers for £50? I can turn it into 2 2x12s or 4 1x12" but then I got it home and remembered I'm actually a bit shit at woodwork so left it as is. Got plenty use out of it though and it's now away to experience the Scottish Death-Metal scene.

Sounds like a good setup, maybe a bit underkill for gigs but there's nothing quite like slamming the front of an amp with 32dB of boost.

Scottish death metal sounds fun. Like the Swedish death metal but probably

about killing the English.

Turns out we’ve a good few gigs lined up now so I’m gonna have to get a pro rig sorted out. (I.e stick a tuner on there  )

It’s not going to be massively different but I’d like to keep my little Marshall on the go. It’ll also help when there’s 4 of us jammed in a car, as little gear as possible please!

Fucked if I know what any of them are singing about tbh, could be saying nursery rhymes for all I know. I can't really be arsed with a lot of that scene but my cab now belongs to these cats who I have a lot of time for, probably because they remind me a lot of early Carcass.

Had a Floyd Rose disaster at practice so had to use the singers spare guitar.

This curious old thing, I’ve had dinners that weighed more but it sounded lovely

Just pretend you didn’t see it

"Guess you guys aren't ready for that yet. But your kids are gonna love it!"

In other news I'm eyeing up a Harley Benton 1x12 with a Vintage 30 speaker to replace the old Peavey cab, just a bit miffed that stepping up to the Greenback instead of the V30 is an extra £60. I've never been one to get hung up on speaker models but seems quite an questionable jump in price.

Neighbours already hate me here, half wishing I'd just kept the 4x12.

Are they still cheaper than buying the speakers on their own?

Ended up not buying one as I found a good deal on a 112 and a different 212 more locally but I recall them being good value even accounting for shipping to NZ a couple of years ago.
