good documentary that, they did a follow up to it years later with same scotswood aggro boys which is worth seeking out.

by the mid 70s onwards football boot boys predominantly had long hair.

Aye, I’ve seen the follow up one where the skinhead (who I think was only about 15 in the original one but looked fucking nails) is in the kitchen with his mam. And she was basically oblivious to his behaviour until she’d seen him on the telly

I know. I was being facetious. I changed the last word. Couldn’t bring myself to say the right one.

Being facetious?

done my head in a little bit that photo to be honest.

can i fuck picture where marks and spencer was on northumberkand street in the late 70s and 80s. the chronicke selller i remember most shouting out his wares was always the one at the entrance to eldon square with fenwicks on the left hand side.

i can picture quite clearly callers on the other side of the road and hmv records at the bottom on the same side, but can i fuck pkace m&s.

to me the fenwicks chronicke seller was the most famous one, uless that is him? help!

There was definitely one at the entrance to Eldon Square next to M&S.

Corner door of M&S was our family's meeting place when we'd be off doing our own things. Can remember being stood there many a time and hearing "Ronny Gill!" being hollered.

You're right in that the one at Fenwicks is the one everyone talked about.

so was m&s at the bottom opposite hmv?

the fenwicks seller always seemed to get his chronicles first as i recall, maybe not long after lunchtime, probably bedore the journal had finished selling.

think there was an early and later edition of the chronicle back then.

He was in the middle of the entrance to Eldon Square. So probably more opposite McDonalds.

NB - I still consider HMV to be on the corner of Saville Row where Superdrug is now.

aye right on the corner, but still northumberland street surely?

i knew a lad who was a steward at sjp in the 80s, micky h (surname witheld) a yellow double decker mounted the pavement as he was walking past the corner of hmv turning left to go towards dobsons. hit his leg and broke it quite badly, touch and go whether he was gonna lose it initially. years later he was still knocking back insurance payout offers from the bus company which had reached 6 figures even then.  claiming for trauma and everything, how he'd never be able to work again etc...

fucker was wearing his orange hiviz and letting us in for 2 quid each at the side entrance of the corner of the gallowgate at 15.01 within a year or so of it happening!
