Cheated a bit but I'd probably plump for:

Steve Harper

Steve Watson - Steve Howey - Fabricio Coloccini - John Beresford

Wayne Routledge - Robert Lee - Lee Clark - Scott Sellers

Andy Cole - Andy Carroll

7 from '92 and 4 from '10

Was a young Beresford very good?

Better going forward then Enrique but probably not as good defensively. I always preferred Robbie Elliot there actually. He was class before injuries knackered him. Not just at LB but often filled in well as midfielder or even at CB on occasion. Loved a 50-50 you might say ;)

No thinking involved whatsoever - all Keegan's players.

There's possibly an argument for the odd one but KK's midfield and forwards were different gravy to the current side.

I remember Kenny playing them both in midfield(not at the same time, obviously), and in particular some goals from them both.

Beresford scored a peach against Villa(on the volley?), and Elliott's chicken dance.

He was 25/26 when he joined us.

Don't know he was 26 when he signed for us.

I've looked at every player, and honest to god, unless you seen both teams every week you can't comment. In every position we were better then apart from one centre half slot see below. When you consider Rob Lee was more of a right winger at the begninning then you'd still pick him over Routledge in that position not cos WR is sub standard but Lee was so good. So the direct comparison in midfield would be Butt/Smith against Bracewell, I think Bracewell had much more in his locker.

Also Steve Watson didn't play loads of games that season, BV was right back, with Kevin Scott generally centre half or Killer with Howey. Neither of them are as good as Colo, Williamson or Taylor, but none of those three are as good as Howey was. So one centre half position. 1993 (10) 2010 (1).

The thing is Ellliot was what I call a "footballer" - the way he addressed the ball (using a golfing tem) for me showed he had talent beyond people simply making a living out of the game - see Scott Sellars for another example and also why I'd choose Peacock over Guttierez.

Aye, he could definitely play a bit. His legs had gone when he came back (not that he was ever pacy as such) although I thought he was underrated in that first season after returning under SBR. I think he played most of the games and we came a deserved 4th.

Peacock played up front with Kelly for the vast majority of that season though, not wide.
