Smith is a former striker who makes for a shit defensive midfielder imo and I can't see Nolan being any worse at that role if given the opportunity and at least he might chip in with a few goals unlike Smith hasn't scored for a hundred years. Basically just wondering could we try and find a way of dropping Smith and having Nolan and Ben Arfa in the same team. Judging on the Villa game, which is the only one ive seen this season, Smith is far more valuable to the team. Especially in his new found Makelele role. He also looks relatively athletic, as opposed to Nolan who looks about 15lbs overweight. Smith isn't in the team to chip in goals anymore, and if you take Nolan out for Bafra, which is what I proposed, I would hope he would bag more than Nolan anyway.
