Shite defending from set pieces cost us this match. Wonder what we were doing in training over the past week.

Disagree, shite going forward. You can't defend a 1-0 lead vs Stoke at home for 45 minutes. Routledge should have come off for Guti, he was shite, and Ameobi on for Nolan, can't drop the captain though.

Spot on, Nolan was useless except for a well taken penalty that Barton could've taken just as well, and Routledge gave us nothing. Jonas on the other hand was killing them down the left side and Tiote was one of our best players.

Hughton's got that one wrong, no excuses. We should never have lost that game.

Perch is an easy scapegoat. We lost our control of the midfield when Arfa/Tiote came off and were even more infertile going forward. Routledge was shit and picked the ball up moving into our own half all the time. The only time he makes a forward run he's offside, either goes backwards or sideways and his final delivery is shit. Should start with Guti on the right imo and Routledge on the bench.

Fucks sake, Blackpool all over again.

And some please break Perch's legs before the next game. He does nothing but get booked and put the ball in his own net.

james perch, was being climbed on for the first by huth, scored their second

has been booked in EVERY game so far

is shit and shouldnt not play if we have ANY other player fit to play there

Agreed about us being shite going forward, but our defending on the two set pieces prior to Jones' goal was just a sign of things to come. You could feel a goal coming from them because we had look so shaky from set pieces. None of our players seemed to have been designated someone to mark, it was just mark the man next to you, which was why Perch ended up marking Huth.

Ryan Taylor is at least good at free kicks and has the odd good game, Perch just doesnt look up to this league whatsoever

Routledge wasn't shit! What game were you watching? His pace alone causes problems, so he doesn't cut defences apart like championship, so what? He works so hard, beats his man most times and gets back and defends.

In the past under KK, SBR and to some extent RH we were undone by being too "gung ho" albeit entertaining for the fans and the neutrals.

Now though we are being undone, AT HOME, because we are being too fuckin cautious...the ironic thing is though we actually are quite good attacking wise.

Holding our nerve and concentration are massive attributes in games like this and its proven once again that although we look a good side, the problem still remains.

Every time he got the ball he was making a run towards his own goal. He is too cowardly to make runs in behind because he knows his delivery/end product is shit, Arfa put it on a plate for him in the box and he took a terrible first touch. I don't hate Routledge but he's a very limited player, he will carry the ball around at pace (most sideways/backwards), but that's it.

I also have to say that I agree with all the opinions on Routledge as a championship player - not good enough.

In a completely OTT/pissed off vain I'd also say I didn't see that much difference today between Tiote and Amdy Faye.

What a spectacular capitulation that was. It was almost like Stoke were employing the rope a dope tactic from the start. Letting us get a false sense of security despite having a largely toothless attack.

Really have to question the tactics behind the substitutions. Why Ben Arfa instead of Routledge. Ben Arfa was clearly the more potent of the two, unless your measure of potentcy is ability to run into empty channels. And Tiote, why take him off when he'd been one of our better players? Substituting an attacking player for a defensive one does not mean that you'll get more attacking play. It was Tiote's movement that helped to facilitate the movement of the ball from side to side in the first half allowing our wing men to penetrate. If he was kept out there we might have seen the benefit of having both Ameobi and Carroll out there. Carroll had a relatively poor game, didn't get into it early and his touch looked poor in the second half. Nothing more needs to be said about Perch - There's a point where effort isn't enough, he's found that point and continues to forage well past it time and time again.

Our defenders looked weak against their set plays time and time again. Maybe this would have been a handy game to have the physical presence of Campbell out there?

In the end that was some very critical points that we let get away from ourselves from a team that effectively played the exact tactics that anyone would expect from them.
