Aye I like these. Don't feel over done and nicely staged. On the high ISO shot, I like the shot, good composition, though I wouldnt say I could tell it was a higher ISO though thats maybe the size of the image Im looking at. I would maybe have removed the bowl though if I was being picky.

Cheers mate. Yeah maybe I should have moved that bowl in hindsight... I think sometimes i'm maybe too keent o get in there snapping and forget a few basics. Its all a learning curve though and I appreciate that feedback as hadn't thought about the bowl until now.

Quick question about the swan pic... is the composition slightly off? I'm thinking maybe the swan needed to be a touch further to the left? Not much but maybe just a bit?

Well the main thing is that the majority of the space is in front of the swan. Again, maybe aye couild have been a touch back but I dont see it as a big deal.

Cool yeah I dont think it quite meets the 3rds rule properly but like you say its more or less fine.

Might give it a tiny trim sometime but for now i'll leave it as it is.

Had some spare time the other day, and without a model (or willing wife) to shoot decided to head down to the river near the Metro Centre and take some pics and have a general mooch about to see what was down there... Thought it would be a good to practice my landscape photography although not sure if these would be classed as landscape shots exactly (well bar the bridge shot)?

Anyway here's the results of my trip:

I like the first shot, quite abstract. Not sure about the second. Is that b&w top and colour bottom? Third pic I think the white balance is off? I really like reflections in water though. Id also be tempted to crop half of the sky out so you have 2/3 water/land and 1/3 sky rather than 1/2 and 1/2.

Had a very quick mess in Photoshop to give you an idea what I was looking at. I didnt get the colour balance right but didnt mess around with it much.

Yeah just the reflection, wanted to try a slightly different thing there... saw something in an art gallery that was a photograph of something and it looked a certain way, but when you read about it it was just all camera trickery... the theme was "the camera never lies" being a falsehood, so I went for something similar with leaving the actual "real" image colour but the water and reflection in colour... bit of a convoluted explanation lol

The 3rd one isnt white balance, I fecked around with the colours in photoshop to try and make it more greeny blue... might not be to everyone's tastes admittedly but was just messing around really as dont have much interest in taking pictures of Scotswood bridge lol :o

Tbf, the second one has grown on me. I like the blue and the whole thing does have an "arty" feel to it.

Haha cheers :o

I think the thing that maybe throws it off a bit is that the sea at the top of the pic isnt blue too... I wasnt sure if I should make that blue too but in the end stuck by my original idea.

Andy most of your work has great composition and interesting use of colour grading but the one thing that sticks out for me is your constant use of infinite depth of focus.

Some of the images would benefit from just the subject being the point of focus and everything else blurring off into the distance.

And fist is right, more of the sis in law, less of her boyfriend!

I haven't posted any images in here for ages, largely due to the fact that by the time i've finished uploading them to Flickr, Facebook, my blog, my website and also another 2 forums I'm on I kind of got sick of seeing them lol... but thought I'd make more of an effort seeing as I've been posting about my photography and website on here.

So here's some images that I took at the weekend of a lovely American couple called Erin & Aaron at Gibside in Rowlands Gill to celebrate their engagement.

Some good shots there. Prefer the mono ones ;)

Good location as well. I do loads of shooting around Gibside (not far from where I live plus Im in National Trust so makes sense). Actually have a set to process from there from last weekend (just me and the youngest again). Second last shot would be my pick.

Cheers mate, yeah i thought you might prefer those one's lol!

Its good that a few different people have picked different favourite one's so hopefully thats a sign of a good collection of images... was my 1st paid gig too so am pleased the results were good. Probs helped that most were taken with my recently purchased 50mm prime as opposed to using the kit lens I've been using before :)

Its a good place is Gibside for photo's am glad I chose that as had a few different ideas but this one seems to have fit the mood of the shoot well I reckon... look forward to seeing your shots from here too. What day were u there?

The composition on this would've been better if you'd been 4 ft to the left

;)

To include the path going off in to the background?

 stop being so innocent man

So I got the chance to dust off the home studio equipment and did a shoot for my boss who has some extremely cute children. Below is a selection of the photos. Only the 3rd time I've done a studio shoot so any feedback would be great :)
