Nicky Butt going Yaya for £200k-a-week move to South China

FORMER England star Nicky Butt could sign for South China, the champions of Hong Kong, for a staggering £200,000 a week.

His great haul of China will put him in the same pay bracket as Premier League top earner Yaya Toure – not bad for a 35-year-old who had been ready to hang up his boots.

The move for Butt, who quit Newcastle at the end of last season, is being funded by wealthy South China chairman Steven Lo, who wants the veteran midfielder to play for his title winners for four months from February.

Butt had planned to move into coaching but the astronomical pay deal will put that idea on hold.

Butt, capped 39 times by England, won six Premier League titles, two FA Cups and the Champions League with Manchester United during a glittering career.

South China have won the Hong Kong First Division title in each of the last four years.

I don't know what's worse, the bit in bold or the bit in italics. :gay:

Former Newcastle United midfielder Nicky Butt made his debut for South China FC on Tuesday in a 2-1 victory over TSW Pegasus, scoring from a free kick but then missing from the penalty spot.

The 35 year-old former England international wore the number 12 shirt of the Hong Kong First Division side and marked his first competitive game since Newcastle's home draw with Ipswich Town last April.

Butt is the third Toon old boy that we know of to have appeared for South China, following on from former Mags Keith Robson & Billy Whitehurst.
