Ashley won't have gotten a contract drawn up especially for Pardew.

He doesn't waste money on anything. Especially when the Keegan one saved his ass.

He wasted money on Kinnear...

I'm not sure that your logic holds to be honest, he could very easily have gotten a contract drawn up especially for Pardew. Say it cost him £10k for the contract; if it helps him in situations like this, it's going to save him hundreds of thousands, if not millions.

I reckon Pardew will get a single season payout, and the termination will have something to do with performance criteria being met (i.e. Ashley can't terminate early if Pardew is still on top of the KPI - once he falls beneath it, it's a different matter entirely). If I was running this club with a view to staying in the PL and nothing else, that's how I'd do it.

 You reckon he just scribbled out Keegan's name and put Pardew's in?

Sorry to burst your bubble, but Keegan had a clause limiting the payout to 2.5m.

They may have changed the amount, but there's no way he'd remove it. As anything geared around performance wouldn't limit the liability.

My money would be on Ashley doing a find / replace.

The delay can only be down to the farce we had that left us with Kinnear (twice).

This! I know Ashley's a cunt but foremost, he's a business man. If Newcastle start going down the drain, he'll lose money. My money is on him lining up a new Manager, so when he does sack Pardew he'll have a replacement straight away.

Pardew is probably very shrewd himself when it comes to contracts, although he may be on a lowish wage for a PL manager, the new contract was negotiated when he was LMA MAnager of the year and had got us into fifth. I think this stand off is precisely because it is going to cost Ashley a lot of money to dump him.

How will it affect Ashley if we're still in the premiership he's not losing money we're rock bottom now I dont see any indication of Ashley panicking.

All this talk of it's going to cost Ashley a fortune to get rid of Pardew is nonsense Ashley is a billionaire. Paying Pardew off with say £5 million is a mere drop in the ocean.

 Still not sacked! Go ahead Mike you daft shite just leave this idiot in charge it's only going one way if you do and the later you leave it the less chance the next bloke has.

Swansea will cuff us 4-0, he has to go after that. Like others have said it has gotten to the point of no return tbh, the fans are completely against him, the players aren't playing for him it's just dragging out the inevitable now.

I have zero expectation of him getting sacked at any time now like. We have one league win since the begining of April and yet his position is apparently safe. I really don't know what it takes to get sacked as our manager now.

I'm sure it's a money issue because Ashley must have an advisor who's shown him our record this year. Surely no one can just dismiss that as knee jerk. There must come a point where financially it's acceptable to Ashley and he will do it then. When that time comes is anyones guess but will probably have to do with any clauses in Pardews contract.

Don't think it's a money issue, I think that Ashley knows he's gonna struggle to find someone as pliable and ready to stick to the script.

I maintain there are lots of young managers who would take the job as a way into the "big time" as long as there was an exit strategy. We'd be best off getting a DoF and a continental coach who's used to that system already.

I want David Ginola (assuming Moyes, Galtier etc. laugh us off) if/when we sack Pardew. Makes sense because he's played for us, is French, is looking to get into management and would be cheap. The football would probably be a bit more exciting as well.

Can't for one minute think its a money problem getting rid of Pardew. Ashleys probably gambled more at a casino than what it would take to pay Pardew off. Why is Pardew still in charge ? Because we're still in the premiership worldwide advertisings free and Ashleys not losing money its that easy.
