Souness: Faye is a good player

Recommended Posts

Graeme Souness has spoken out in support of Newcastle United midfielder Amdy Faye.

The former Portsmouth man has been criticised by some sections of the St James' Park support but Souness is convinced the Toon faithful have yet to see the best of the Senegal international.

With the manager himself under pressure from the fans, he has backed the £2 million signing to come good.

"There seems to be a general feeling that Amdy Faye is not a very good football player," said Souness.

"I felt he was the best player on the park [in the draw with Aston Villa] and, being a midfield player, I'm telling you Amdy Faye is a good player.

"I wish people would understand that.

"I do not think there are many midfield players who would enjoy playing against Amdy Faye."

Faye, meanwhile, claims he has been less than fully fit due to an ankle injury so he has not been at his best.

The man is obviously a fucking nut job. Can we not sack him and avoid paying a penny by claiming he's mentally unstable because with articles like this I think we'd have a pretty strong case.

This is the comment I found interesting...

How long can an ankle injury last?

I think there are even less players who enjoy playing with him...

Probably shows some good stuff and practices hard but will rarely muster it up come gametime. Shola v2.0.

Our manager sees Ameobi and Faye as footballers, this is where the problem lies tbh.

Would they get in any other top half Premiership team? No.

That last sentence implies that we are one of the 'top half' premiership teams.

I never thought Faye was a world beater but he is better than Butt and on the whole I would have him in our team under a different manager. He did well at Pompey with a simple job - tackle everything in sight and break up play. He can NOT pass beyond 5 yards. He was never asked to do this at Pompey but he comes here and Souness wants him to be able to make 20 to 30 yard passes perfectly timed toward our strikers. As expected he invariably gives the ball straight back to the opposition.

Souness has gotten the message from our dismal attempts at the long ball though (and it only took him a dozen league games to suss this out) - so now we are trying to use our wide men more in moving the ball around midfield - after another dozen games or a new manager this might work.

Totally Totally Totally agree

and lets not forget some other great quotes from the Scotish Bufoon

On the team when he was appointed "This is a great team i can work with"

Thats before he sold half of them for peanuts to be replaced by total crap

{Scott Parker and Michael Owen when not injured excepted.}

AND not forgetting the backroom staff which he sacked to be replace by his tosser mates from Blackburn

On Kieron Dyer " He is is the future of Newcastle United"

LIKE I SAID AGREE AGREE AGREE

The Newcastle United I have seen in the last couple of years (already under SBR) are just kicking the ball up front over the heads of a midfield, especially when Bramble is in the team. I haven't really seen attempts for this being stopped, not one year ago and not in the most recent games.

No they managed by a scouser by the name of Richard Money and as Isegrim allouded to they actually play the ball out to the wide men.

Calimag, what games have you been watching?

Staggeringly unbelievable that anyone thinks that a hopeless arse like Amdy Faye [and he's not the only one] is more worthy to have in a football team than Craig Bellamy.

Absolutely amazing. Only a complete total fuckwit could come out with such absolute tripe.

Or, should I say, a manager who has taken a team from Champions League players to the bottom half of the premiership and spent 50m quid in the process, in less than 18 months .........

This statement is backed up with results and performances

LeazesMag - 1277 posts.

242 are about Bellamy.

80 are about Robert

457 are about Souness

which leaves 498 of his posts that don't contain one of those 3 words. Frankly I'm staggered that it's not considerably less!

What on earth are you going to whinge about when he finally is sacked?

When the onus is not on him to attack or go forward then he's good at what he does, sit back, tidy up, provide a bit of muscle. He's a poor man's David Batty or Ray Wilkins imo; backwards and sideways.
