Dan Gosling To Make Return This Week

The Smith slaggings are a bit over the top especially when Guthrie was turbo-poop-cack when played recently.

There is no-one in our squad that could lace Tiotes beautiful white boots and thats the main problem.

Guthrie was down right embarrassing the last time he played, but Smith is that just about every time he plays. Either that or he's non-existent. Guthrie has it in him to play ok, Smith clearly does not.

Tiote's a different sort and a different class of player.

I'd completely forgotten about Gosling leaving. He's not that good tbh, decent finisher but on the ball he's awful, passing isn't up to much either. When he left there was rumours that he'd demanded games at CM for us, whenever he played for us it was RM or the odd game at RB. He'll either be a very decent signing for you or utter shite. The injury he had will take him a good 3 months to get over.

He's over the injury, had been back in full training for a few weeks, playing his first behind closed doors game shortly... unless you mean it will take an additional 3 months to get match fitness/sharpness like it did Michael Owen constantly.

I'd factor in Smith being on 60k a week and Guthrie being on about 5% of that as well.

Dan Gosling shines in Newcastle United bow

DAN Gosling today made a successful return from a serious knee injury with a good display against Scottish Premier League side Hibernian.

Newcastle and former coach Colin Calderwood's Hibs played out a 3-3 draw at the club's training ground in a behind closed doors friendly on a goal packed afternoon.

Gosling shone in the centre of midfield as he played for the first time since suffering cruciate knee ligament damage against Wolves playing in his final game for Everton last March.

The Devon-born player came close to scoring on a couple of occasions and put in a box to box performance in a eye catching display.

Also on show against the Easter Road side was Danny Guthrie who had a hand in all three United goals.

Newcastle opened the scoring when Phil Airey rose high to glance home Guthrie's swirling set-piece from the right wing mid-way through the first half.

Defender Jeff Henderson made it 2-0 at the start of the second when Guthrie curled in again, this time from the left, and Nile Ranger knocked it into the path of the Geordie Academy product to bundle home.

Daryl Duffy pulled one back in the second half but it was Dan Leadbitter levelled when he put one past his own keeper.

With 10 minutes to go, Guthrie bent in a free-kick to the far post from the left and Henderson got the final touch to make it 3-2.

However, a late twist resulted in Duffy salvaging a draw.

Nevertheless, Gosling managed to get through 70 minutes of action to boost watching manager Alan Pardew
