NEWCASTLE UNITED are not in talks with Indian tycoon Anil Ambani over the possible sale of the club.

Reports on Sunday morning suggested that United will be the target of a £200million bid from the billionaire businessman, who was also thought to have an interest in United three years ago.

Ambani has been tipped to bid for the Magpies once their Premier League safety has been secured.

Ambani is chief of Reliance ADA group but Newcastle have distanced themselves from any such takeover talk.

A United source told the Chronicle: "There are no truth in these reports.

"It's all news to anybody here."

Interesting to see that people are thinking better the devil you know on this one! Ashley has proven over and over that he views the club purely as an asset to strip, and also that he thinks he knows better than the football people at the club what to do. As for the comment that choosing between Ashley and an Indian is like choosing between AIDS and cancer how crazy a comment is that?! It's actually like choosing between a proven arsehole and an unknown quantity.

If you choose the devil you know, you're still choosing the devil.

It's crazy because Ashley has money to burn and he doesn't seem that bright, he should be a great owner! maybe Llambias is the real problem!

But either way surely a new owner could actually lift some of the gloom that's hung over Newcastle United for a good two years now.

Off topic here but just checked Llambias' Wiki page.

Derek Llambias is an English businessman, clown, juggler and long-term associate and friend of both Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley and Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew. He is currently managing director of Newcastle United. He was announced in February 2011 to be headlining the Friday night of Reading and Leeds Festival 2011.[1]
