He will sell the best player, whomever it is, and will only replace them if he can do it for buttons. Which invariably leaves us short. We still don't own a striker. Now dont get me wrong he was a fantastic player for us who's departure has been devastating to the team. I think it was August/ September time when he started to refuse to play for us, his head had been turned by interest from Arsenal he only started playing again because the club promised him he could leave in January. Now that was 3/4 months to find his replacement (dont forget they knew he was going) and they didn't even try. By rights they should have had someone of similar quality lined up and ready to sign on the first day the window opened. Instead they messed about thinking about nearly signing somebody it was quite obvious we could all see were this was going. Which leads us to were we are today the team is a shadow of its former self the manager's in the middle of a disciplinary ban and the owners still a cunt. The only saving grace is JFK's fucked off . Again and again people have tried to explain that while the players do should some of the responsibility, the actual problem flows from the owner, through his board, then the manager, then the coaches, finally the players. Swapping an average manager won't fix the owner's problems will it? Neither will blaming the players for failing to be motivated when it's obvious to everyone bar you that the lack of ambition from above is killing this club. Adam Campbell, Shola Ameobi and Papiss Cisse are not enough for a Premier League season and, next season, we won't even have Shola. We'll have Cisse and Campbell unless Ashley spends some money or gets someone in on loan, which means more likely than not, we'll limp into midtable safety, get dumped out of the cups and only the owner will be happy with that. Sure we know Ashleys the panto villain and all thats gone under the bridge, but this season we still had a very good team that should have been capable of winning a lot of the games we have lost post Christmas. Ive seen very little of player condemnation on here, just the usual "its all Ashley and the poor little players cant help it because the nasty man sold their best player and the nasty man has caused their lack of motivation due to cup exits etc. Its bollocks man. Footballers at all clubs, know all about top players moving on. It happens all the time. Thats no excuse for a lot of the chucked in towel displays we've seen post Christmas, including the FA Cup exit to Cardiff. Pardews not brilliant by any means but hes been good enough to get us to 5th and into Europe and into a very good position just in December. We've had some great players arrive over the last few years and some contracts renewed for players that "people" said would never happen. Of course he could spend more etc etc etc but lets not let that get in the way of striking players or overweight uninterested players or players that just dont seem cut out for the premiership. Well let me remind you, I gave Ashley credit when it appeared that the plan was to support a strong scouting network by purchasing young hungry players. I gave him credit when it seemed like the hiring of Pardew was a shrewd piece of business. However that's the lot of an owner, you have to consistently have the best interests of the club at heart if you are to receive praise. Also, you state the performances have been poor after Christmas, and you're right. Yet you're laying the blame for those performances at the feet of the players first and foremost. This is just frankly bonkers. The players don't pick the team, they don't pick the tactics, they don't organise the set-piece strategy, they don't buy their teammates, they don't arrange the sale of others. The players are there to deliver the manager's plan, who is there to deliver the owners plan. The performances before Christmas weren't even that good. It was obvious we needed to buy a second striker, it was obvious we needed more strength in the centre of the park because we were clearly weak without Cabaye. It was obvious we needed greater strength in depth at the back too. None of this was dealt with, because the Owner chose not to. It's no great surprise that someone with right wing leaning politics is quick to blame the comparatively powerless for the problems, instead of those who're able to change things.
