I don't get why we dont send these youngsters out on loan. As a club we never seem to do this and i think thats the reason why we dont see as many coming through our ranks. I'd much rather see them getting proper game time and learning the game in the Championship down to league 2 instead of making 3 apearances on our bench all season and not getting any game time, it's totally pointless

Eh? We have done this with practically every youngster possible. Taverner Edmundsson, Forster Donaldson, Kadar, Tozer and Lua Lua (off the top of my head ) have all been out on loan this season.

Weve only just began to do it this season and most of them were in the 2nd half of the season, but apart from Forster i dont really seeing any of them challenging the first team anytime soon, possibly Kadar and Lua Lua but theyve hardly had any loan game playing time to prove theyre up to standard

I dont get why we dont send the likes of Vuckic and Richardson out on loan, who seem closer to the first team and according to reports etc have the most potential about them

Because Vukic has been injured and the squad is paper thin.

I honestly can't fathom people supporting Ashley. Just because we came straight back up doesn't excuse the fact he relegated us and is flogging the majority of our good players.

Did he?? I would say It's more like some of our so called superstars didn't have the bollocks for a scrap something that has now changed. I'd take this team above the one that went down with the likes of Owen, Viduka and Martins, all just after money and couldn't give a fuck about winning

He's still selling our best players though, even having come back up.

Not many owners would have turned down that money, it's not just a Mike Ashley thing tbh.

Aye, sacking Keegan and appointing Kinnear sent us down. The writing was on the wall from October 2009.

Yeah, look at how we ended the season in 07/08 and started off in 08/09 under Keegan. There was no way relegation would ever have been a possibility had KK not been forced out, and if the owners had supported Keegan, we could have been challenging for Europe in our relegation season. The form at the end of the last season was indicative of this, but the owners paid no attention to KK and ended up selling one of our best players (although I must admit even I thought £12m was an OK deal for Milner at the time) and bringing in, on the whole, rubbish.

If we'd allowed Keegan to make more signings like Jonas and Bassong, which I'm led to believe he was involved in, instead of going through the Xisco and Gonzales fiasco, we'd have been fine. The buck has to stop with the owner for that.

Aye i get where youre coming from but even while our squad is paper thin, i dont see them getting onto the pitch anytime soon for us, so why not get them out on loan, it would benefit us more in the long term

MIKE ASHLEY FRIEND OR FOE:

"All Newcastle supporters (apart from me) are completely bonkers. Look at some of the facts surrounding this situation. First, after three and a half years Ashley and co have moved the club to a far better position than it was when they came. The squad is more committed (ok, whether it’s better is debatable), the finances are massively improved and we’re higher up the Premiership. Those are the facts. Football, we hear, is all about results. Look at the results. We all think he’s a nasty piece of work (allegedly) and would sell his own grandmother to the rag and bone man, but look at the results. He’s absolutely pathetic (indeed non-existent) in terms of communication and PR, some of his decisions have been truly embarrassingly awful, but – look at the results. Second, at last Newcastle seem to have some young players coming through. Whose fault is that? The little weasel Denis Wise – we need to blame him, it seems, for Ranger, Vukic, Kadar etc. What a dreadful legacy. It might mean we won’t have to waste millions on Spanish no-hopers – it just won’t feel like Newcastle any more. And what did Ashley say when he came – develop the youth system, buy young players and sell them on. Nothing wrong with that. True, it won’t turn us into Chelsea or Man U but when was the last time we were anywhere near that level anyway? Answer: never. So no difference there then. Third, do we realise that now for the first time Ashley has got his own choice as manager. We may not like Pardew (I do, as it happens – quite, anyway) but at least we know he’s the owner’s choice. Allardyce obviously wasn’t. Kinnear was simply a short-term stand-in. Keegan was the peoples’ choice, all emotion, no logic. Shearer was a panic measure. Hughton, bless him, was simply “Johnny on the spot”, a safe pair of hands who did an excellent job. None of them was Ashley’s choice. Pardew is and we have half a chance of building something long term, and even an outside chance that Ashley might give him some money to invest. Carroll? However good he is, that offer could not be turned down. Simple as that. Liverpool were prepared to take £50m for Torres, who is at least twice as good as Carroll. Get real. The only way NUFC will move forward is steadily, bit by bit. Children want it all now, now, now. Just like Newcastle supporters. Well, we can’t have it all now, we have to be patient. Time will tell whether we can believe Ashley when he says the £35m will be invested. Some are understandably cynical. But – an uncomfortable fact to some – let’s not forget he seems to have put about a quarter of a billion of his own money into the club. One final fact: every last nook and cranny of Newcastle United Football Club is his and he can do what he likes with it. It doesn’t matter one jot what we say here on this blog or anywhere else. Fact."

Interesting - what do people think?

Here's another fact, the guy writing that is a tool.

Couldn’t disagree.

“Keegan was the people’s choice”

No he wasn’t. Nobody was calling for Keegan to be appointed after Fat Sam was sacked.

“Newcastle seem to have some young players coming through”

Possibly, but is this because the kids are forcing their way into the first team or because the squad is thin and the kids are all we have left when injuries and suspensions kick in?

From what I've seen of any of the three youngsters mentioned, none of them look like they'll make the grade.

I've lived through this bollocks from Alan Suddick, through to Keith Dyson, Alan Duffy, Ian Bogie, Joe Allon, etc etc....the fact is that all clubs have "promising" youngsters, but SO DOES EVERY OTHER FUCKER.

I despair, I really do.

Anybody we DO get, Ashley will sell them for as much as he can get. This is how he sees the club, they are just commodities to be bought and sold.

In the summer we will bring in 3, 4 or 5 sub standard players for about half the Carroll and Enrique transfer money to paper over the cracks of a thin squad of players [which will be the norm for however long he owns the club] and they will tell us its "good business". But the team wil be inferior to that which started this season.

Relegation fights, dwindling revenues, accepting lower standards and the inabliity to challenge the likes of Spurs and Liverpool, playing in front of anything up to a half empty stadium, is our future, and its "good business" according to the halfwits who run the club and the thousands of wankers who are believing and accepting it.

Thats what pissed me off about the Carrol sale, if he goes on as expected he's the type of player we should have fought tooth and nail to hang on to. It just doesn't make sense selling him when we'll have to spend 20 mil to replace him with some QPR who has no attachment to the club, not that we will anyway.

Truly depressing stuff, fuck me I thought I'd blocked this out.

Exactly, Ive read this a couple of times in the last few days, that Ashley was somehow foced by the fans to appoint KK. I can honestly say that when he came it was a total shock, I cant remember any discussions on here or anywhere else where people were calling for him.

Just more lazy writing from people who sign up to this messiah complex.

As a fan of Ashley, I can back you up.

There is no way he was pressurised into appointing Keegan. I haven't read that he was, but if you have read such stuff, I can assure you that I back you up; Ashley was in no way pressurised into appointing Keegan. We were very happy when it happened (and misrablle 8 months later), but no way was there any pressure. It suits the press's vision of us. It's about time they understood that we are not deluded, and that the Toon is a well-run club.

Keegan's talking again...

Speaking in his role as an ESPN pundit, former Magpies boss Kevin Keegan hasn't been shy in criticising those who prompted his 2008 departure from Gallowgate:

"You know I don’t like the owner there — I took him to court — but if they’ve played well of course I’ll give them the credit. But I’m not scared to say the best day they’ll have is when he goes because I know that’s true.

"It (the Carroll £35m) is not going to be reinvested is it, I think that’s obvious. As a Newcastle fan, if Carroll is the only one you are going to lose you have to be pretty thankful.

"There may well be other players going as we speak. I think they’ll sell two more players and then he’ll sell the club. And that’ll be the best day Newcastle fans have, when he sells the club.

"I’d love to be able to give Newcastle fans some encouragement but I can’t see it getting any better in the short term.

"He (Carroll) was on the fringe when I was there. He was raw. This kid is the best header of the ball I’ve ever seen. That’s his biggest plus point for me.

"His minus points have always been there. Can he get his head down? Can someone make him realise that all he has to do is train hard, work hard and be a good pro for 10 years and he’ll be a very rich boy? He needs to get rid of the other stuff.”

That's some praise for Carroll when you consider Keegan signed Sir Les who I consider the best header of the ball I've ever seen.

I wonder what he might know when he says that ?
