Game of Thrones is an American medieval fantasy television series created for HBO by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss, featuring a predominantly British cast. The series is based on author George R. R. Martin's best-selling A Song of Ice and Fire series of seven planned fantasy novels; HBO's overall series' title is derived from the first novel. The series debuted in the U. S. on Sunday evening, April 17, 2011, and was picked up for a second season on April 19.

I've just watched the first episode.

It was quite strange seeing a first episode being so fast paced. Although you could see how they were trying to bring as many of the characters as well as setting the scene as quickly as possibly.

I'm looking forward to catching up on the rest of the episodes.

Some amazing breasts on show too.

Its based on one of my all time favourite series of books, which i would seriously reccomend to anyone who is, or isn't a fantasy fan as i know many people who wouldn't touch fantasy novels yet love this series. So since the 90's when they began i've been waiting to see this filmed for cinema or preferably TV as it is so complex and detailed you would need a 10 hour film for the first book alone.

So far for fans of the books the series has been excellent and the casting, if you know and love these character has been so spot on its scary at times. The two guys behind it are not only huges fans of the books but they kept the author involved throughout and he has even written one episode and will do for each series.

There have been sacrifices, and it is such a complex story with a cast of hundreds, so much back story and intrigue etc that they could never fit it all in, but they have done a great job so far, and with a second series already in the bag i just hope they get to the end of the books as there is soem potentially amazing stuff to come!

But for non readers i'd recomend the HBO online guide to give you an idea of who everyone is, how they're related and what their stories are as it is spiler free but really helps get to grip with it all.

I've had the first book for a while but not read the others. Loving the series though, just got caught up last night.

I'm loving this show, in spite of the fact I don't really go for fantasy, have always hated Sean Bean and normally only like to see dwarves in porn

Of the new major shows on Atlantic I was underwhelmed by Treme, and though I enjoyed Boardwalk Empire it wasn't as good as I hoped, but Game of Thrones is shaping up to be unmissable

I think my expectations of Boardwalk Empire were maybe too high. It was beautifully shot but it just seemed a tiny bit sterile to me, it never really caught me up completely. I really like Steve Buscemi, but I don't think he convinced me he was Nucky - I was always aware of the acting.

I did like the Widow Schroder though

The Killing is excellent although watch the original danish version rather than the american remake.

Game of Thrones is decent enough aye, Tyrian Lannester/The Imp is the best character like.

Also The Borgias is fairly good so far, Irons is class in it.

I do a Thrones/Borgias combo on Mon nights. :D

Saw this advertised and thought it looked good but it was starting when I was over in the states, then randomly acquired the first of the books, read it, bought the rest.

When I got back I was genuinely worried that it wouldn't match up, but it's been quality so far and I'd agree that Tyrion is the best character so far

So.... with the final episode due to be aired this weekend, I was wondering what people's thoughts were on this season. How has it compared to the first? what have you liked? disliked?

NO SPOILERS MIND, I havent read the books yet and am dodging plot giveaways like fucking bullets on places like imdb!

Its been good, the last episode was awesome, battle and all that.

kind of an odd season, transitional for a lot of characters but that will bear fruit in season 3.

I fucking love Tyrion, best character on TV at the moment

Agree about Tyrion like. Plays the role brilliantly but such a great character as well. Ive enjoyed this series again (its not a fucking season!) best thing on tv by a long shot. Id put it ahead of walking dead which I also enjoy. Last one next week will be interesting with so many lose ends to tie up.

Because Tyrion is the only character in GoT who is given space to breathe and develop outside of scenes that are designed for plot development? (Devil's Advocate)
