The case is now close to collapse

No matter, once DSK was removed, the more hardline John Lipsky was able to force the Germans to guarantee the $350bn debt owed by Greece to the global banking system.

Obviously now Greece has forced through the austerity measures

.. the case against DSK is no longer neccessary to further the private interests of the banking lobby.

Conspiracy anyone?

I said as much in the SK thread a few weeks back.

They cook up shit against anyone that gets in the way....SK also made the mistake of saying that American debt was unsustainable.

It might just be a good defence from DSK, the full weight of the french leftist establishment is behind him but as soon as i saw Lipsky's intervention into the Greek/German negotiations, i knew that something dodgy was going on. If the case does collapse, then who will be held accountable for the fall out across Europe of further economic depression in the region? Not the IMF for one.

could be true. But when he was first arrested I thought he was bound to get off.

Top lawyers –v– chambermaid with no witnesses or evidence other than her statement.

Aye in the absence of CCTV or a reliable independent witness it was the most likely outcome, conspiracy or not.

Plus the usual lovely tactic of questioning her "credibility" as the report goes which I guess will either be based on her immigration status or sexual history.
