More of an american thing I guess. Before a sporting event of some type (usually american football, nascar, etc.) you arrive at the venue early. Setup chairs, a grill, and a cooler of beer or other beverage and socialize before the event. There aren't too many pubs in walking distance to the sporting venues over here unfortunately so this is the (cheaper) alternative. It allows for banter and socializing as people will go from group to group. It's a good time. Some take it to another level by setting up tables, games, flags, shade, etc. It started at college level with college (american) football supporters and has created some interesting "innovations" in technology and drinking games. Plan was to watch the game and then watch the Amir Khan fight straight after. Turns out theyre both on tomorrow. Struggling with my time zones.
