Newcastle United are preparing a £3million offer for Barcelona striker Keirrison as they continue their search for Andy Carroll’s replacement.

The Magpies have made contact with their Catalan counter-parts about the availability of the 22-year-old.

The Brazilian has not made a single appearance for the La Liga giants first-team since making a £9million move from Palmeiras in 2009.

He was sent on-loan back to his native country last season to Santos and scored four goals in 13 appearances.

Toon Army boss Alan Pardew has been searching all summer for a new striker and is confident he can finally land his man.

Pardew has made enquiries about Arsenal’s Nicklas Bendtner and Tottenham’s Peter Crouch but did not make an offer.

A deal for PSG hit-man Mevlut Erdinc was close to fruition but the Turkey international pulled out at the last minute.

Meanwhile, Pardew insists he will not close the door on Joey Barton’s career at St James’ Park, despite the feud between player and club.

The boss regrets the situation being handled so badly but hopes he may be able to convince the 28-year-old to stay.

The club however have revealed that neither they nor the player will make any more comments on the situation.

I'd never heard of him before. Any good?

I just googled and he's never played in the Premier League before.

Must be shite then.

You'll also know he’s been farmed out for the last three seasons and done fuck all anywhere.

But who cares, he’s cheap and it’s not like the club have £35m burning a hole in their pocket or anything so let’s all wank ourselves into frenzy of delirium.

Pessimistic much? Similar things will have been written about Tiote when we signed him, and look how he's come on. And as for the "farmed out" comment, he's at fucking Barcelona!!!

Why not see what happens and see how he goes?

Not at all surprising the way the value of our targeted strikers has plummeted. From the 9ish million of Gervinho to the 6ish million of Erdinc and now the 3ish million of this guy.

Was mint on fm a few years ago!

Seriously though this is a disgrace if this is the standard of player we are looking at to replace someone we just sold for £35m.

I really do wish more of us had it in us to boycott so we could get rid of these cunts.

I think it's gonna have to be on the scale of the Tottenham riots to get shot of this lot.

He's absolutely rubbish anyway, just another hyped South American who has failed everywhere he's played in Europe and couldn't even get into the Santos team when he was loaned there.

ideal for the Mike Ashley model then

Was meant to be a potential star, but has had a lot of problems apparently with being loaned out and not putting any effort into training. Alot like the Arsenal kid Wellington

and Kerlon.

Happens to a lot of the young South American kids, Move away from home half way round the world then get loaned out to another country before they can settle. Most clubs don't have a choice though cause they sign them and then can't get a visa for them ( Like the Wellington situation )
