I need to upgrade windows as my version is incompatible with quite a few programs, anyone know where I can "acquire" a copy?

I'm assuming a man of your high moral standing is only after a legit copy, so clicky

Pretend to be a student and get it on the cheap.

So, in other words, click on the link I provided above!

to be honest it looks like I'd be as well buying a new tower and getting the copy of windows (plus the 1yr guarantee, the antivirus stuff, the online storage, etc. etc. etc.)

I mean, if the doodad costs £70 and an entirely new (and powerful) pc costs £400, it seems reasonable expense to upgrade everything...

That's usually the best way to do it but it all depends how out of date your current PC is. The new O/S will only cost you £40 btw, so if your existing machine has a good enough spec then 40 vs 400 is a no brainer.

How come you don't get Windows disks these days? I need to restore my laptop right back to the beginning but because I didn't make a checkpoint back in the beginning the only way to do it is reinstall Windows but I need the disk?
