My friend has got 2 year-old triplets and have no childcare. They both work full- time (she's a nurse, he's a fireman) and they just constantly work opposite shifts. I can't even begin to imagine the madness!

Still not sure how all you MEN are getting knackered...Worst I get is having to pick her up from school and watch a bit of childerens telly with her while wolfing through her sweets. The professional babycare person (MrsP) takes over when she gets home from work and I slink off to my study. :D

Honestly, someone needs to speak to that woman :D

Tonight is the first night in months that I've bathed the bairn because Himself worked late. He normally does bath and bedtime because he hasn't seen the bairn all day.

Sometimes I imagine having a kid, and a wife who's the sort that updates her facebook all the time like "Little "baby" is so cute lol x" and then with other wifes saying "Yeah, I agree lmao my "baby" is so cute when she rolls over, shes so smart :D", whilst mentioning the kid at any possible opportunity to induce nausea. After then I remember how hard it is to actually have a kid (not literally, obviously), and I think "I'm never having children".

Was anyone else in a similar state? I presume it's just my naivety.

I tend to not be able to get on FB until he's gone to bed cos I'm too busy trying to stop him using the new HD posh telly as a racetrack or throwing himself off the top of the settee onto the cat because it makes a funny noise...

Genuinely tho, it's the best thing in the world, but you don't ever know it until you have them.

Sorry to gloat, but my first slept through from 8 weeks, my second from 11 weeks. The advice about not letting them sleep too much in the afternoon is sound, just don't be a Nazi about it!

Another thing, obviously don't ignore them, but sometimes a bairn will pick up on an over anxious parent and play on it. Basically, don't leap up at the slightest sound when they wake up. Even young babies aren't stupid when it comes to attention.

Anyway, they are the greatest thing that'll ever happen to you and you'll soon move on from the tiredness. Basically, your life will never truly be the same again once you're a parent. Enjoy every stage of their childhood because once its gone, it's gone! You'll see pics or vids of them a couple of years later and you'll pine for those days. :D

She's German mate. Efficency is not so much a watchword as genetically primed. I've got it so that I appear lax in dealings with the bairn, as in soft - thus propogating an overly maternal instinctive protective response from the frauline. It's basically my higher brain v her lower brain functions. There can only really be one winner.

Although she'll never read this, I will tell you all something.

I was away from home the whole of 1990. My son was fairly new and, due to a lot of ear problems, hardly slept one night throughout that time. Almost each and every night he would cry and cry due to the pain/ache. Mrs hips dealt with it all and hardly moaned once to me. Which reminds me, I need her to iron a shirt.....

My youngest has cold so kept waking up during the night and needed nursing back to sleep. Then eldest was up a couple of times as well. It's unusual to have them both at it in one night. It's a bitch when they do that. Especially considering I was working away and wor lass was dealing with this on her own last night. Oops...

They made us draw a graph of how much sleep and socialising we do now then laughed at us.

;)

Been rumours in the Barney household of putting the 2girls into the same bedroom thus giving me back my box room/nerd chamber. Seems to good to be true...must be a trap.

What did they do with the third one?

My brother and his wife are trying at the moment, plus they have two cats. I am now expecting in a couple of years time to see this happen!
