Full might of the Met investigating Terry.

No doubt they'll send a top level delegation to our lot to liaise on the optimum way to proceed given their experience with the Ameobi case.

I feel safer already.

I feel safer knowing that you feel safer

You don't think racial abuse should be a crime?

Sniffer's just grumpy because they've banned his Twitter account after some witty banter with Sammy.

Hope it doesn't stop him posting on Twitter. He comes out with some (probably unintentional) moments of comic genius. 2J should be ashamed of himself tbh.

 Bell.

Premier League - Teenagers arrested for racist tweets

  • Newcastle United striker Sammy Ameobi on Twitter, as Toon boss Alan Pardew blamed the recession for an increase in racist attitudes.

The younger brother of fellow Toon forward Shola Ameobi was subjected to a racist taunt from an account with the username @JonnnnyPhipps, which was later closed down.

Ameobi, 19, retweeted the abuse, saying "sad to see some people are still racist nowadays", while both he and his club complained to police.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said: "On Wednesday November 2 Northumbria Police arrested two young men, both aged 17, on suspicion of malicious communication.

"The arrests come after reports of a racist tweet being sent to one of the region's professional sportsmen."

With Luis Suarez and John Terry both accused of racism following incidents with Patrice Evra and Anton Ferdinand, Newcastle boss Pardew indicated that the current economic situation may be stoking racist and xenophobic attitudes and that such incidents should be dealt with to highlight a growing trend.

"We represent the local community here and when something like this happens we have to react strongly," he said. "We will not tolerate any type of behaviour like that.

"With the austerity measures and everybody feeling a bit tight, everybody is feeling a bit narrow-minded and racism is coming to the fore, so maybe it is not a bad thing (to bring it in the open).

"We have been leading the world, the football world, in terms of dealing with (racism) and maybe we should not become complacent in keeping a lid on it."

Fucks he on about?

I'm happy to associate the london riots with cuts, as a boiling point being reached in wider society, but one kid of indeterminate wealth being a racist cunt after 2 multi-millionaires did it is hardly evidence of a race war heating up due to benefit cuts.

Not HTT is it? He seems to think the racism directed at Sammy should be ignored and it's a waste of police time that Sammy reported it.

Assuming the racists aren't NUFC supporters.

They (well one of them anyway) are sadly, the lad in question has deleted his facebook account but before he did he included that black lad Demba Ba as a favourite sportsmen and had a profile pic of him with some mates hugging a black bloke.

Fucking moron.

It's a bit much when a blatant attention seeker accuses someone complaining about being racially abused of doing the same thing. I suspect the irony was lost on him though.

  • 2 months later...

Out for months.

Sammy Ameobi will be sidelined for a period of time, likely to be a number of months, as a result of an injury sustained in the Reserves' win over Wigan.

The England under-21 star was hurt in a 50-50 challenge in the second half and had to limp off.

The 19-year-old has made a total of 13 appearances for Newcastle so far this season - 12 of them from the bench.

Gutted for him.
