Think a bit highly of Scarborough don't you?! They have a team in the NCEL but it's hardly a poster child for overspending

I used to live there. There are numerous reasons Scarborough have gone down the pan and haven't survived. It's a shame. But they don't have 50,000 supporters and most clubs don't go out of existence like that, in fact, very few do despite the bollocks that has been peddled.

They have been playing at Bridlington for the past few years. I went when they beat Chelsea in the League Cup, lost the quarter final to Arsenal, and beat other league teams like Plymouth and Coventry. When Neil Warnock was manager, they got into the league and could have got promoted again if he had stayed, but he left and that was the end of their rise unfortunately.

Too many people in the town "support" ManU, Arsenal and Liverpool sadly, they needed to sustain their league status for a generation or so to slowly change that, but they failed.

"STV understands the Scottish FA say newco Rangers must accept a 12-month signing ban or they won't give them membership"

Wow, the SFA are playing hardball then. This could really screw them.

the point is, topcat, that they will not cease to exist, will they ? This is the myth that has been peddled for a few years now ie that this is what happens to clubs who go bust. Basically, there are people who wanted Rangers to cease to exist, for various reasons, and it interferes with any common sense they may have.

There is absolutely no chance whatsoever of that happening. None.

agreed - they are unfortunately not going anywhere (50k is a conservative estimate given the numbers they took to, and trashed, Manchester a few years back - estimated at 200k) - but there is an increasing risk that if they don't get their arses in gear that they might not start the season in 12 days time - especially if the SFA as rumoured are going to insist that the signing ban on the old company stands on the new company.

all that aside - given their lack of pre-season games and training has been t*ts up too apparently - Brechin are looking like a decent £5 bet in the ramsdens cup

I remember their first ever league game against Wolves, when that knacker brummie climbed on to the roof, but he was so fat the roof collapsed under him and he fell 40 feet.

that was only a few months before I moved there. It is sad that Scarborough have gone so far down because at that time, it was buzzing, really buzzing. They could have moved forward because the population is def big enough to support a league club if the kids grew up supporting their local team.

Car crash financial losses this season for TTFKAR (the team formerly known as rangers) as follows:

According to published accounts:

Operating expenses of Ibrox and training park (not including salaries) are £14m.

Wages cut down to £5m gives a rough estimate of £19m.

With little other revenue streams the majority of the money must be raised through tickets sales.

Assuming they get 30,000 per game (as the glory hunters dwindle), 30000 x 18 league games x £12 (SFL3 agreed max entry fee) = £6.5m with a bit more for cup games etc

A bit of a black hole in the income/expenditure figures.

Membership wans't granted today and papers for the 'fit and proper person' investigation were incomplete and need resubmitted. 11 days to go to kick off but financial projections are losses of circa £10m for each of the next 3 years.

A stand-off over media rights and a possible stripping of titles threatens to scupper Rangers' hopes of Scottish Football Association membership.

The SFA said on Friday that the new Rangers agreed to a transfer embargo in return for a licence to play.

BBC Scotland understands two obstacles remain before a deal can be agreed.

Rangers want the Scottish Premier League to drop their investigation into dual contracts and the SPL wants the SFL to hand over Rangers' media rights.

There must be a five-way agreement between the SFA, SPL, Scottish Football League, old Rangers and new Rangers before any deal is ratified.

The SPL want an independent commission to rule on whether Rangers broke the rules during previous campaigns by paying players with so-called side contracts.

They are due to hand over their findings to that commission on 10 August.

But Rangers fear an independent commission could strip them of titles and believe they have already been sufficiently punished.

The Rangers manager Ally McCoist has already said that he will never accept the stripping of titles.

It is understood the club will not sign up to the agreement with that threat hanging over them.

However, the SPL are digging their heels in over media rights.

It is believed broadcasters are not keen to sign up to an SPL deal without having the rights for Rangers in the Third Division.

For that reason, the SPL want the SFL to hand over the rights for a price.

They say that without the broadcasting deal in place, they cannot pay the SFL their annual £2m settlement fee that was agreed back in 1999 when the top clubs split from the league to form the SPL.

But Rangers and the SFL want to hold onto the rights and all parties are currently at a stand-off.

Talks will continue next week to try to find a solution but several parties involved believe a deal is a long way off.

Rangers are due to play their first match against Brechin in the Ramsdens Cup next weekend but that match cannot go ahead without SFA membership.

It would appear that most of the digging in of heels is coming from Sevco FC - with a 14 day SFL deadline for membership of the SFA due to expire on Friday they are fast running out of time - and it would appear that their arguments and challenges to the authorities are effectively saying "we don't want to play this season ... we'll have a year out and re-enter the SPL2 next season and get back into the SPL in 2 years instead of 3"

- a more cynical view of the asset stripping process would contend that those who have purchased the club are on the verge of folding and selling the assets at a profit.

As if further evidence of the shambles was needed they have cancelled their tour of the Highlands sdcheduled for this week.

If I was a "Rangers" fan I'd be concened about the bloke who's bought them - if it had been Smith's consortium at least they'd know it was someone with the club and its history as their concern. This Green looks like soneone who saw a chance to buy the name/assets for a ludicrous price with at best the sole intention of making money. It reminds me very much of the succession of dodgy fuckers who "bought" Portsmouth.

Also McCoist just doesn't get it that "Rangers" are dead and gone and the company he works for have nothing.

McCoist saying he "will not be accepting any talk of stripping titles". Arrogant little prick. They should be keeping their heads down and be incredibly thankful that they've been allowed into the league at all. This dickhead shouting the odds ffs, I hope he fails spectacularly if they get approval to play.

McCoist can say all he wants. The bottom line is, they massively cheated for a decade and if the SFA decides to take titles off them, there's nothing the fat gobshite can do about it.

It's all coming down to the wire tomorrow ... they need membership of the SFA by midnight or it's bye bye huns ... interesting to see that the SFL have removed all trace of Sevco FC from their website and they are now showing an invisible club 10 on the league table!

Listed as The Rangers FC now. Has their registration come through then?

nope - apparently they are going be given a "temporary licence" to play the tie tomorrpw should close of business today not bring them the full membership status - corrupt as feck and another bend over to the huns - surely giving them a temp licence takes away any bargaining chips on the SFA/SFL side and makes them think they can keep getting away with failure to provide acceptable documentation.

noticed that their status on the SFL site lists them as 1872 with all their trophies - surely a mistake as they are a new team with no honours.

They are a newco so shouldn't have all their trophies and titles they have a transfer embargo for a year. That should be it anything more is taking the piss.

Aye, they're a Newco but isn't the point here that they're transferring the old Rangers' registration and therefore their history?

that's exactly it - they want to have all the history associated with the oldco but they don't think they should have to accept any (as they quaintly put it) 'punishments' for the oldco - beggars belief it really does!

They should be forced to have Est. 2012 on their kits. And all replica trophies and honours should be confiscated by the SFA, the same way MK Dons had to give their history back to the Wimbledon locals.

The only thing that could make this better was if it happened to Celtic.

They still haven't transferred their single SPL share to Dundee FC - but despite this failure to transfer their SPL share AND their failure to gain full membership of the SFA within the allotted 14 day time period (ending today) , the beaks have given them a temporary licence to play their cup tie against Brechin on Sunday.

In a Keegan style I would fkin love it, love it if Brechin could do them on Sunday - currently 7/1 and worth a punt.
