You know how their takeover was going to make them one of the richest clubs in the world?

Turns out the American backers are loaning them £4m. Or roughly what they spent on Will Grigg, or roughly Rodwell's wage for a year .

I see they've a 14 page thread on our match, obviously delighted that we've only got a point at home to Wolves, who finished 7th last season, in the Premier League.

Takes a certain kind of delusion to forget about losing at Shrewsbury, who finished 18th, in League 1 and instead try to dig out your erstwhile rivals.

You think if they stay down in League one for another season they'll shift focus on a rivalry with a team down there instead? Must be hard to stir yourself into trying to have go at us, surely easier to havea a go at Doncaster or someone?

They’ve always got a chip on their shoulder about someone, so it’s possible they’ll try and manufacture something. Like AH says though it’s pretty likely we’ll only be in the division about next season so that’ll be enough to keep their little obsession going.

If they stay down there for a third season they get to keep the division.

aye.

and the amount of seasons they'll have spent in the 3rd division will equal the amount of competitive games they've played in the europe they all despiise!

Are Sunderland really “a big scalp” in that division?

I really don’t think they are & if they don’t go up this year they’re just a another washed up ex prem club.

They have a big stadium, so what? We have a big stadium but someone like Bournemouth or whoever are considerably better ran with better players & a better manager. (There’s loads of teams basically).

They're a big scalp purely because the rest of that division are teams like Oxford, Wycombe and Accrington Stanley. Who, with all due respect, are minnows. If Sunderland stay down there for much longer, you're right, they'll stop being a scalp, just like Portsmouth have.

They're not a big club.sunluns a massive club. Time and time again they 'big' sorry 'massive' themselves up believing they will win the next game and the next game and think they're never going to get beat again. Look at last season.Wearside Jack, who when a player at Hartlepool  returned to Scotland to recover from injury then refused to return unless he could leave, went on and on about their unbeaten run, only so many games lost, and the sad makems fell for it and joined in with the bragging. As has been pointed out, having a big ground does not make a big/massive club. A victory over us would solve all their immediate problems however. Going back to Wearside Jack's extended stay in Scotland, due to this action he couldn't criticize those two makem players who refused to return to training a couple of seasons ago. I read recently and it may have been posted on here that no  serious investors are  interested in taking over whilst they are in the third tier of English football. Wycombe were aware of their arrogance both on and off the field. This was mentioned by their  goalscorer and match winner when being interviewed after the game. Tine I returned to rtg. They'll be wondering where I've gone.

Lost on penalties tonight at Oxford. Will Grigg apparently ballooned one over the bar.

Same Will Grigg who was apparently so "on fire" seriously skint Sunderland smashed the League One transfer record to spend £3m on his goal scoring talent.

Same Will Grigg who has as many League goals as a striker for the "biggest club in the division" as Fabian Schar, a centre back for one of the worst teams in the league.

Is that the Oxford that have won a major trophy more recently than Newcastle have? ;) Please don't put us in the same bracket as Accrington Stanley! :D

Only joking lads, as an Oxford fan with Toon family connections I was especially glad to knock the Mackems out last night :D
