I lived in paris for a few years, love the place

not read the other posts but the arc de triumph late at night is well worth a visit, much much quieter than the effiel tower, that and the champs elysees of an evening can be a right hoot, alot of the resturants have some kind of jazz feel going on of an evening

sacre coeur is nice (not really off the beaten track mind), its in montmartre, which is fun during the day but avoid at night as its fulls of hookers and pimps (its fine if you're with your mates, but not ideal if you're with your lass)

if you want some serious browny points, take her for evening dinner at the "hotel du Nord" its on the canal, book early, top, top quality and you can sit and listen to all the arty types that gather down there to play and smoke weed

Outside in the square,

by the Pompidou...

playing chess without a clue.

Cause Paris make you do everything-

-you always wanted to do...

Then at the party..

You looked like Bryan Ferry.

Well Ferry before all the pain

and Jerry Hall won't answer the phone again...

Someone shouts up at our window..

again and again...

Cause Paris is all echoes.

Hells bells man. Cantona must lie awake at night in awe.

Cabs are quite cheap PL, about €45 from the airport for a 45 minute journey. Around Paris, very reasonable, much much cheaper than a black cab in London but hard to find late on a weekend. Metro is ridiculously cheap, if you are there just for a couple of days get a carnet of tickets.

I would go to Entrecôte anyway, force her to watch you eat there as recompense for her organising the holiday at such a crucial time in the season.

I don't often drink round Republique (in fact I'm the proverbial pilot light - I never gan oot) but I think The Rush Bar is near there and will have the football on.

Ye never gan oot. How the mighty have fallen.
