Last few days I've been unable to access the internet because of this "Unidentified Network" fault.

 

It's saying my

"Local area Connection" doesn't have a valid IP configuration

 

I'm using a powerline booster and I've tried rebooting that, and the main router. I'm unable to change it from a public to a home or work network, I can't delete it, I've tried running CMD as a an admin and "Route Delete 0.0.0.0" to no avail.

 

I'm currently using the iPhone as a wifi router, which obviously isn't ideal.

 

Can anybody (in layman's terms) guide me through this?

Switch it off and back on again, fiddle with the wire and make sure the thingy is attached.

click start>control panel then Network and Sharing centre

 

top left'ish second option down click Change Adapter Settings

 

right click on Local Area Connection then left click Properties

 

in the secord box down look for Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IP) select it then click the Properties button

 

Are circles in Obtain an IP automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically ??

 

if not select them and then click ok, then close.

you probably have, but can you try restarting your router?

while your at the router have a look at the bottom and note down the ip address should incase restarting it doesnt work, should be something like 192.168.1.1
