You have to wonder how much Pardew had to do with it, given that I read he's a "number 10" and how little appetite Pardew has previously shown to have some creativity behind a front man...or 2 front men.

...despite already having the personell.

Some undeniably quality technique on display in that video. A little odd to sign the brother of a player who you just had on a pretty miserable loan where the option to buy was rightly not exercised. Scores quite a lot of goals from midfield, but in a highly dominant team in an overall average league he'll need to prove himself in this league. With the players we have he should get a good chance to do just that.

Pardew stifles players, but the capitulation after Cabaye left shows the difference a bit of quality makes. He may not be used as he should, be asked to play on the wing or to sit deep and allow Anita to get forward or some other mad shit Pardew comes up with, but just that quality of being able to take a free kick, to hit a ball on target from long range as opposed to letting Tiote kick a dozen balls into L7 will be worth more points than we had hope of yesterday.

Whether that's a good or a bad thing is debatable as once again, it's new signings that will dig Pardew out of his morass rather than tactical guile, so mid table will unfortunately ensure his survival.

I'm of a similar mind to this. We are where we are, and that is unlikely to change. The more quality players we have, the better chance we have of winning games. It's not particularly 'cool' to like to see us win at the moment, but I'd always rather that than getting beat every week.

It adds credence to the theory I just came up with that Kinnear signed the wrong one.

Was out injured most of last season. Apart from the injury concerns what worries me most is that he doesn't have a fixed position in which he excels.

Poor mans Christian Eriksen for me. Its a sign of peoples dampened expectations for nufc that this signing is met with such joy. Ashley playing a blinder here mind. Welcome to acceptable mediocrity

Welcome to?... where have you been the last 10 years....
