Thought it was an excellent debut for the lad when you consider all of the circumstances surrounding it. Pardew threw him in at the deep and most certainly did he cope.

 

Squad depth and buys for the future that can do a job now. :up:

Such a difference between our youngsters and throwing in this lad. Didn't look remotely out of place. If I had never seen Newcastle before I would have assumed he was the first choice left back and one of the better players on the pitch.

This is the thing. We went into the season with our backup being untried young kids like Sammy and Shane. Now along with players like Perch and Shola (who while may not be good enough to be regular starters, are good enough to be cover) and players like Haidara who already have a seasons experience playing in a top league but who could progress to really be a first team regular.

Defensively he looks as strong as Santon already!
