The tackle that Gouffran made that led to the goal on Sunday was a joke. No central midfielder should be losing that challenge.

Yup, he's also weak as piss, which I eluded to. They're like for like defensibly is my point. Coming forward though, Gouffran has been far more effective. Far less-headless-chicken-free-kick-looking.

Gouffran also spoke about his relationship with the Newcastle fans, saying that he feels as though his efforts are rewarded by their support.

"The game is much faster than in France," he said. "You make a lot of runs. I often end the match having run 11 or 12 kilometres. I am not used to that.

"I end up limping, with cramps, but the fans like that.

"The first time I heard my name chanted by the fans, I didn't understand the words. They chant after a goal or even after a run.

Good lad

We seem to be getting a lot of injuries as of late - not many (if any?) caused by say a bad tackle.

Not sure the coaching staff are conditioning our lot right, or perhaps our lot aren't putting the effort in fitness-wise so are more likely to get muscle injuries etc.

I thought we got a specialist for just that reason - can't remember her name but she worked with England rugby team didn't she?

She was only a pre-season consultant rather than a member of staff iirc.

There was some history there. I think he got a bad injury playing against them for Norwich and their fans were less than sympathetic. Because he's a little cunt

Yeah, McCall or Musgrave, or something wasn't it?
