Did I read on here that referendums are banned by the German constitution because Hitler had four of them, all of them going in his favour due to the National Socialist's huge propaganda machine?.... Cameron has already granted two :glare:

I think it'll be as close as the Sweaty independence vote, with Remain winning out, just.

I don't think, though,we'll see anything like the turnout the Porridge Wogs got.

Whatever the result, Cameron is politically fucked, he's made the biggest political balls up of any UK PM in decades, and he knows it.

What the fallout of this whole sorry mess will be, I have no real idea, but I just hope that the result of this fucking abortion of a referendum is remain.

If the idiots win, I genuinely fear for the future of my kids, everyone else's kids, and their kids to come.

That's the crux of this entire shitshow for me- it's not about what I want, it's not about what the pig-shit thick Boldon cabby wants, it's about what kind of world we want our kids to grow up in.

I was fortunate enough to live and work in various European countries from my late teens until I was 29.

I made solid friendships with people from numerous different country's, and I'd like my kids to at least have the choice to do something similar.

It made an immeasurable difference to the person I am now, having started out as a Killy bamp from a council estate- I say that, not to denigrate council estates, the working class, blah de blah etc. but as an example that thanks my country being part of a European community, I could work in whatever country I chose, within that community, without any unnecessary obstacle.

CT, genuine question, why would you deny your kids that option?

You're accustomed to having the piss ripped out of you on here, I'm deadly serious here Tubs.

You and I are basically the same age, we've got kids the same age as each other, we both own our houses and are self employed, to one degree or another.

We're genuinely not too different from one another.

And yet.....

And yet.

When I drive home tomorrow, (probably risking my license to get back in time because I fucked up and forgot to go postal  ) I'm not doing it because I think it'll be best for me,

It's for our nippers.

Unless your laddie turns out to be a secret genius, chances are he'll end up working for the biggest employer his local area, or a supply company entirely dependent on them- we're talking Nissan, obviously.

Same goes for my nipper too.

Chances are, he'll be looking for graft locally, starting his own business, or, if he's lucky, working abroad.

Both kids, in whatever scenario you want to envisage, stand a better chance of making something of their lives if we remain a part of the wider European community.

Ignore Boris, Gove, Farage, all those cunts, listen to your Uncle Fist.

You know I'm right.

;)

 nice post.

I honestly don't know a single person who is voting out. I think that's a validation of my family/circle of friends.

Same here, but I know some right arseholes.

Voted remain. Everyone I've spoken to at work has voted, or is going to vote for, remain.

The only evidence of leave I've seen is the vote leave stickers I've seen in quite a few black cabs. However, given the abhorrent views of a lot of the cabbies down here, I like to think that they are doing their bit for the remain campaign by turning people against leave.

I voted leave btw.

Tony Benn hated the EU, think he was right. There is a good principled reason for those on the left of the spectrum to vote out, despite the loathsome self interested wankers who have lead the "leave" campaign. In four years time a principled left leaning star may have emerged to lead a country which has already left the anti demorcratic blood sucking neo liberal car crash that is the EU and it could be the start of a new UK where wealth is more evenly distributed between the haves and the have nots. But sadly most voters are like CT and wouldn't vote for that even if it was staring them in the face.

If we remain, I hope after this we never have another referendum again, it's brought out the worst in people and the standard of debate has been abysmal. Not least because the leave camp haven't said what Brexit will mean for us. If people want to leave after this, may I suggest they vote UKip and try and establish a parliamentary majority to take us out. Not sure there should be any complaints there, since they insist our parliamentary system is so democratic. An exception though is Scotland, because clearly they can never get a UK parliamentary majority. Still, I hope that issue has also been put to bed for a few decades.

If we vote leave, I actually think a second referendum will be fairly essential once we know the shape of the landscape post Brexit. By this time we will be balls deep in recession and I'd guess we vote to remain after all.

No official exit polls tonight but a number of banks and hedge funds have paid for exit polling (final and hourly) so they can trade around the likely outcome.

The FX and equity markets will be a good indication of where we are heading. So far so good by the looks of it.

I think his opnion was mainly based on the common market as was rather than the EU as is - though his arguments about democracy still apply to a certain extent.

Will those sad twats in Sunderland be fleeing around to get the first regional result returned?

Yes, but just as sad Newcastle are racing them (and will lose).

I can see it now. "Sunderland declares 85% to Leave, much lower than expected. News night extrapolations now predict a landslide to Remain".

I don't really get why they're doing regional announcements anyway. It seems odd.

I guess the alternative is to wait until everyone, including the isle of Harris, have counted? "And the winner is......".

Well they had the chief adder upper on the BBC the other day and she said the result won't be formally announced until all returns are in. So will there be an unofficial announcement by the news prior to that?

The world is watching today to see if the populists score their first big global victory. If it's a leave result then anything can happen and it wouldn't surprise me if Trump is later elected.

Hopefully common sense and pragmatism will prevail on both sides of he Atlantic for all our sakes.

Vote remain!

They'll have a running total and unless it's ridiculously close it will be obvious who has won once the big cities have declared, by 7am latest. I'm not staying up for this one like, will wake up and learn what our future holds then.
