Is he seriously just going to ignore the law?

Is he fuck. He can say what he wants in Parliament. But court is a very different matter.

I suspect the letter will go today, but if it doesn't it'll go on Monday under a court order.

Letwin himself now saying he'll vote for the deal. What did you guys think this would change?

No deals off the table and the pressure is off. There will be proper scrutiny and hopefully an economic analysis. The deal won't pass now. Or there will be a PV amendment attached.

Six Labour MPs voted against the amendment. I think that bodes well for the meaningful vote.

Good news for Johnson or for us? Are you assuming that no more than 6 will vote for the deal, and therefore it will lose? Or that this number is so high that he's basically guaranteed to grab enough of them?

It’s hard to conclude too much from it but it’s good that the Labour rebellion wasn’t higher. What we’re going to have now is the question of how many ex-Tories are going to vote for the deal. Letwin has said he definitely will, Clarke and Boles most likely will. So Johnson needs six more from that group or Labour to back him and he has it over the line.

It’s going to be very tight but at the moment the numbers are in our favour.

Next thing we need to happen is for Bercow to refuse the govt a repeat of the vote on Monday. They're trying to pull a fast one and circumvent the Letwin Amendment. If it's remotely possible to block it, Bercow will.

Rees Mogg's craic was a disgrace at the end of the day.

How does moving it circumvent it?

I think if they get another vote on the deal straight away (Monday), it'll pass. Which is why Bercow's job is massive on Monday. It was very clear from his patter at the end of the day that he wasn't impressed by Rees Mogg and he'll be looking to block any misbehaviour.

This government are fucking terrible cunts. The mainstream media are complicit by not calling out all these little bullshit moves they pull.

What happened the vote after the amendment? Was it backed or defeated without a division?

I don’t see how Bercow can allow him to bring it back before he’s introduced the rest of the required legislation.

The tories have absolutely done a job on the BBC after years of slating it as left leaning.

Backed with amendment. Letwin made that point - he had to get up and point out that they were trying to pull some shit.

This is what the govt is trying to pull.

This is what Bercow said, and why his ruling is massively important.

Although the point in the first of the above twitter thread stands that, given that this would reinstate the possibility of a no deal on 31/10, the same people who voted for Letwin today should vote the deal down in Monday.
