I missed out on Thurston Moore at The Cumberland tonight (work) & tomorrow (5 a side), sadly enough as it's his first time in Newcaslte since 1989 "Daydream Nation" tour.

However, I am seeing the following -:

21/02 - Golden Grrrls - Morden Tower

26/02 - Fairport Convention - Sage 2

06/04 - British Sea Power - University

15/04 - Pere Ubu - Sage 2

10/06 - Neil Young - Arena

So, who's on your to see list?

Got tickets for Neil Young and Mark Knopfler up here and also Muse at the Emirates.

I was looking at British Sea Power too, I've seen some quality gigs of theirs. The last one was a bit disappointing though (at Newcastle Uni). I remember a woman with an SLR standing at the front being forcibly protected from the crowd by her bloke. Any sort of movement wasn't tolerated by the bouncers.

I remember a gig of theirs at a church in town just down from Swan House roundabout, that was canny.

Aye it would have been the gig in 2008. Saw them in London too, supported by the Wurzels I think. And there was another uni gig about 2006 ish...frightening how long ago that is now.

Saw A Place To Bury Strangers last week (awesome), had tickets to see Woods on Saturday just gone but ended up lying on the coach sweating and shivering for hours before projectile hurling for 15 minutes.

Descendents next thursday

Thee Oh Sees on Sunday

Swans the week after

Godspeed you! Black Emperor the night after

My Bloody Valentine the Monday following

maybe Crime and The City Solution that Thursday

Einsturzende Neubauten that Friday

Then Wild Nothings, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Dinosaur Jr in March

And still trying to decide if I want to go see The Wedding Present play George Best at the end of Feb and the Hit Parade the next night.

Hopefully not of the projectile vomiting!

Local Natives play here in a couple of weeks in a tiny venue and a mate got me a ticket. New album sounded great on first listen.

Local Natives are brilliant live, one of those bands that are really tight and seem to enjoy what they do.

Exactly the sort of thing I was hoping someone would respond with.

Cheers, bookmarked.

HF if you do get along to Veronica Falls, let us know what they were like.

I really like their release from 2011 but they have toured here as yet.

This, also Rush on 28 May in Sheffield.

12th june 1980; The Clash played the Mayfair on the same night Rush played the City Hall.

The punks kicked seven shades out of the hippies all over town that night, which was the day before my Maths O level.

I saw The Clash, had 3 pints of Export & got a C in sums the next day.

Never listened to them before. Had a go of Teenage to see if I like. Don't think I will be going. Bit like Best Coast. Not keen on those either.

"The Way Boys Are" by Best Coast is one of my favourite songs.
