Given Krul is not only one of our "purple " players, but also in a position that is much more difficult to fill, doesn't it stand to reason that we'd not let him go on the cheap? We could stick Xavi in goal and his distribution would be shite. In fact the only goalkeeper with half decent distribution in the last 10 years has been Elliot Not sure what we do in goalkeeper training but I will take a guess it is 70% shot stopping and 30% dominating the box. As I can't really remember it being something that is classed as a key element of a goalkeeper over here. Yet look at how good De Gea's is having been brought up in the Spanish system. You'd home for home matches he'll grow in to passing it to the full back more regularly or Colo to collect so we can play from the back a bit more. The Dutchman, 25, suffered the problem in Wednesday's 3-0 defeat at home to Everton and is certain to miss Saturday's clash with Southampton. Krul could also miss subsequent games with Manchester United and Stoke, according to manager Alan Pardew, and so number two Rob Elliot, who was recently called up to the Republic of Ireland squad, will come in. Pardew said: "Tim won't play, he's out for these next two or three games for sure, so Rob Elliot will come in. "Rob has made his international squad and he is keen to stay in that squad and he needs to play, so the opportunity lands at his feet. "Rob is a confident goalie and he will look to take that on." Striker Loic Remy is expected to return to training ahead of the trip to Southampton after he suffered missed the defeat to Everton with a minor calf problem. Full-back Davide Santon has also recovered from a bout of tonsillitis and is in contention but Mathieu Debuchy remains sidelined with a groin problem.
