Is there a legible version of that article kicking about anywhere? Would be interested to read it and it doesn't seem to be on their website.

L'Equipe says not as many French flags seen at an English ground since Cantona glory years, noted Toon Ami t-shirts

To answer questions on how #nufc French Day perceived here, a certain resignation that all stereotypical boxes were ticked

All nations are stereotypical about others. When we were in Bordeaux being investigated for the heinous crime of being on a tram with no ticket, the jumped up garlic smelling collaborating little cunt of an inspector definetly referred to us as "rosbifs"!!!

As if 'britishness' is not portrayed in an even more stereotypical (and frankly chauvinistic) light in the French media.

As if the french would embrace British culture (however cliched - ooh look a french word and we didnt feel the need to invent our own) and sing British songs in the crowd. If Mcrossan or other french commentators dont get that, then they have a limited imagination.

All the time. What's hilarious is that on the whole, they think we call them frenchies. At least once a month i have to explain 'its frog, not because you eat them but because you are slimy and we once got high licking your back'.

Will they secretly be disgusted/envious that we are so openly welcoming to them, even if hackneyed?

The chauvinism is too strong so despite their irritation they will be secretly bursting with pride and confiding in each other that this just proves they've been right about everything for 1000 years.

Mentioned elswhere that last week I watched 'Google and the World Brain' about Googles attempts to scan every single book in the world and give people access to them, it raised all sorts of moral and legal issues over art and copyright, whether it's a good idea to give everyone instant access to every book, whether it devalues the work on top of ripping off the author.

Then the Director of the French National Library pops up and says the worst thing is the cunts from Google only gave him a thermos flask as a gift, vastly underestimating his importance, and that all those books being scanned in English should be scanned in French, it's not good enough that only the French books are in French to start with.

Cock.
