I didn't say he does need to be a good tackler I was highlighting what he does / doesn't do compared to the others to arrive at why I think Anita should pip it.

Perhaps you can give your opinion as to why you think Sissoko should be in instead? What he offers that Anita doesn't?

Height and strength?

He's good, underrated. But certainly not the best. Schweinsteiger is better, for one.

That's not Schweinsteiger's role.

I think I'd maybe have Javi Martinez ahead of him actually but can't think of many others who are better at breaking up play like he does.

I don't see how that's relevant seeing as I've said I'd play them both together.

Firstly the majority of those that you've mentioned aren't even specialist DM like Busquets is. There's only Khadeira, Martinez and De Jong that still are.

Essien was never a defensive midfielder but the complete box to box player but his versatility counted against him. I've already mentioned Martinez, Khadeira is slightly below them both and De Jong isn't in the same league as them. Mascherano doesn't even play as a defensive midfielder anymore and was overrated when he did play there as his distribution and ball retention is very average.

Finally you don't have to be an "enforcer" to be good at that role. Redondo is the best DM I've ever seen and he was far from an enforcer.

Busquets is great because of his anticipation and distribution which is all you need to play that role, if you're diving in all of the time then your positioning is suspect and Busquets' is impeccable. You seem to be basing your judgements on him as a player on your opinion of him as a man and cheating cunt to boot.

Schweinsteiger sometimes plays as the defensive midfielder of a central 3, yes, i.e. the same role as Busquets. Of course Schweinsteiger is a more complete midfielder who can also play further up the pitch.

Yup, Martinez was the other one I thought of who I definitely rate as better than Busquets.

To be fair I think Busquets is underrated if anything, the diving part of his game doesnt help. Its funny how often that 'he's got great players around him' argument gets thrown around for Barca players, and for how many of them. Circular reference and all.

Not at all as it happens, it's just what you normally do lately. You make a statement and then run scared when challenged.

It's a simple question :)

By your twisted logic though Sissoko is also first choice so it doesn't need to be answered.

Not to play devil's advocate -

but basically Tooj is saying he'd have a midfield of -

Anita

Cabaye Sissoko

CT is saying he'd play -

Tiote

Cabaye Anita

Given the initial debate was whether to start Anita or Sissoko in the supporting role to Cabaye I don't really see the argument

but surely

TIOTE

Cabaye Sissoko

is the selection.

It will be aye but I was saying that I'd prefer Anita in that position to Tiote (although if he can continue on from last week then that might soon change) simply as he's better in that role because of his ball retention which I feel is such an important part of football.

Like how I would also like us to adopt a pressing game but I don't think that's how Pardew operates.
