It's the first contracted age group for kids. They mainly play 6 or 7 aside games. If anyone wants to sign my nephew they have to pay Boro £3k to buy out his contract! He has to train twice a week at Rockliffe Hall and then plays a competitive game most weekends. Last year he played at West Ham, City, Liverpool, Everton, Stoke and Man Utd's academies. It costs my sister a fortune on petrol. City have a couple of unreal players. They had a tall lad up front who just lasered the ball into the stanchion anytime he got within 20yds of the goal. I also walked past Matt Targett getting into a 2025 Bentley 4x4. The first team must have been doing a post match session today.

The difference between them and the other 6 or 7yr olds is wild.
David Kelly 1831
I go and watch my lass's grandson play quite a bit for Wallsend Boys Club and some of the lads he used to play with have signed for Newcastle. Most of the Wallsend teams at under 8 never had keepers so they used to just rotate who played in goal. One of the lads who's signed for Newcastle was playing in goal one day and every time the ball went back to him he just brought the ball out and dribbled past most of the other kids and scored/set up a goal. It was ridiculous how much better he was than everyone else. Joelinton and Trippiers kids both played in the same league so I've seen them there quite a bit. Although I've not seen Tripps for a while now for some reason.

There’s a kid at my lads' team who’s now on the books for both Liverpool and Man City’s youth teams, but the word going around among the dads is that Chelsea have tapped him up—offering "a job" for the mam, a house, covering private school fees and all that good shit. I guess that they must think he really is something special. I've not heard of anything similar with the Wallsend lads but I'm not that close in with them. But I know there was a few who have signed for Newcastle at 9. Think there was one went to the mackems as well.

Think there was one went to the mackems as well. He was unreal even at 6. Not just the touch and technique, but even just the understanding of space. Like, he might never make it, but it was clear he was really talented and focused on the game. But some of the stories are pretty heartbreaking, like how on a play date he didn't know how to play with Lego or action figures and just wanted to play football all day, how his parents got him a private coach and all that. He used to have little strops when the other kids didn't pass to him, or if they miscontrolled his pass.

Alex 41797
My cousin’s laddie is at the Mackems academy and they don’t get a great deal of financial support. He’s coming up to 16 too so it’s a big chunk of his life taken up by training, playing and travelling to away games and so on. We've been lucky so far, the "away" games are at the same place as our "home" games

You can do that more easily as it’s smaller sided games. As you can have a few games taking place simultaneously on an artificial full sized pitch. Holden McGroin 9709
My little lad (6) is currently with Brighton academy but he doesn’t really like it and not sure he’ll want to continue soon. He is so young and just prefers playing with his mates. The academy is full of parents thinking their child is going to be the next big thing when there’s only a tiny chance they’ll actually make it.

I think it’s far too young like. Hardly any of them make it and they’ve then missed the fun aspect of playing with their mates but also being really good, relative to most of their peers. But the flip side is it just seem like too good an opportunity not to take. But if he’s good enough he’ll get picked up later anyway. Must be tough for you and him
